Circle K, one of the world's leading convenience and fuel retailers, has announced an exclusive international partnership with Bitcoin Depot, the largest Bitcoin ATM operator in the United States. Under this agreement, over 700 Bitcoin ATMs have already been installed in Circle K stores across 30 states in the U.S. and Canada, marking a significant milestone for cryptocurrency adoption in mainstream retail.
Partnership Details: 700+ Machines Live
Bitcoin Depot revealed the partnership earlier this week, emphasizing that Circle K is the first major retail chain to deploy Bitcoin ATMs within its stores. Circle K is a global brand of Alimentation Couche-Tard, a leader in convenience and fuel retail with more than 14,200 stores operating in 26 countries and territories. The company is the largest independent convenience store operator in the U.S. by number of company-operated stores, and a market leader in Canada, Scandinavia, the Baltics, and Ireland. It also has a presence in Poland and Hong Kong.
Bitcoin Depot, headquartered in Atlanta, currently operates 3,793 cryptocurrency ATMs, making it the largest crypto ATM operator worldwide, ahead of Coin Cloud (2,628 machines) and Coinflip (2,499 machines), according to Coinatmradar. The machines allow users to buy Bitcoin and over 30 other cryptocurrencies, providing a convenient on-ramp for digital assets at everyday retail locations.
Industry Impact: Bringing Crypto to the Masses
Brandon Mintz, CEO of Bitcoin Depot, commented: “Circle K understands that cryptocurrency will be a growing part of the future economy and payments landscape. By adding Bitcoin ATMs to the company’s stores, Circle K can attract new customers, offer financial access to underserved communities, and set themselves apart from other retailers with this new technology.” Denny Tewell, Senior Vice President of Global Merchandise and Procurement at Circle K, added: “Our partnership with Bitcoin Depot further builds on this commitment, giving our brand an important, early presence in the fast-growing cryptocurrency marketplace as a convenient destination where customers can buy bitcoin.”
The deployment represents a strategic shift for Bitcoin ATM operators, moving machines from standalone locations into high-traffic retail environments. This model increases usage rates and reduces friction for consumers who may feel intimidated by dedicated crypto kiosks. For the broader crypto industry, Circle K’s move is a strong signal of mainstream acceptance, potentially encouraging other major retailers to follow suit. With over 35,000 Bitcoin ATMs globally, North America dominates the market, and partnerships like this could accelerate growth even further.
Consumers visiting Circle K stores can now purchase Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies while fueling their cars or grabbing snacks. As the partnership expands, more machines are expected to roll out, creating a seamless bridge between traditional retail and the digital asset economy. This model could become a template for future crypto-retail integrations.
