According to CoinGlass data cited by ChainCatcher, the crypto market witnessed total liquidations of $525 million over the past 24 hours. Long positions accounted for $387 million, while short positions made up $137 million. This means longs represented over 73% of the wiped-out value, indicating that leveraged bulls were overwhelmingly caught in the downturn.
Breaking down by asset, Bitcoin saw the largest liquidations at $186 million, with longs losing $175 million and shorts only $11.0065 million, a stark imbalance. Ethereum faced $102 million in liquidations, again dominated by longs at $88.3283 million versus $13.5024 million in shorts. Solana’s total was relatively smaller at $19.0023 million, yet longs still accounted for $18.1563 million, leaving shorts with just $0.846 million. Across all major coins, the liquidation wave almost exclusively punished leveraged buyers, underscoring the risk of crowded long positions during volatile price swings.
