The global crypto market climbed to a $2.45 trillion valuation on April 6, up 2.2% over 24 hours, while total trading volume reached $61 billion. Prices improved across large-cap assets, but sentiment stayed weak. Data from Alternative Me showed the Crypto Fear and Greed Index at 13, still in extreme fear territory, though slightly above yesterday’s 12 and last week’s 8.

Bitcoin and Ethereum push higher as majors lift the market

Bitcoin held a market dominance of 56.6%, while Ethereum stood at 10.5%. The report included two sets of quoted spot updates: BTC was listed at $68,900, up 2.6% in 24 hours, with $26 billion in trading volume and a market cap of $1.37 trillion; a later update showed BTC at $69,054.97, rising 2.75% with $25.42 billion in volume. ETH was listed at $2,115.36, up 2.71%, on $11.26 billion in volume and a capitalization of $255.32 billion; the updated figure showed $2,122.07, up 2.92%.

Among other major tokens, XRP traded at $1.33, up 1.45%. Solana changed hands at $82.34, gaining 2.07%. PAX Gold moved the other way, slipping 0.83% to $4,610.37.

SIREN tops gainers, PEPE advances, DeXe lands among decliners

On the 24-hour gainers list, SIREN posted the strongest move of the day. It traded at $0.5469, up 26.41%, with trading activity of $123.16 million. MemeCore was priced at $2.73 after a 6.51% rise, while PEPE gained 6.17% to $0.053612 and recorded $252.54 million in trading activity.

Losses were led by Worldcoin, which fell 3.16% to $0.2503. DeXe dropped 2.98% to $8.68, and Bitget Token declined 2.51% to $1.87. The split between strong winners and clear laggards showed that the market rebound was selective rather than broad-based.

Stablecoins hold flat while DeFi posts a small uptick

Stablecoins were little changed over the past 24 hours, with a combined market capitalization of $311 billion and trading volume of $49.2 billion. The DeFi sector rose 0.4%, bringing its market cap to $49.7 billion and trading volume to $3.18 billion. DeFi dominance was listed at 2.0%. Trading activity stayed healthy, but sentiment readings still pointed to a cautious market.

Security, regulation and on-chain flows shape the day’s headlines

Outside prices, several market-moving developments stood out. Ledger CTO Charles Guillemet said AI is making crypto attacks cheaper and faster after losses of $1.4 billion, and called for formal verification, stronger security and cold storage. Metaplanet CEO Simon Gerovich said the company would join consultations with Japan Exchange Group while continuing to offer listed Bitcoin exposure and support Project Nova locally.

On-chain activity also drew attention. Dragonfly moved $2.12 million worth of MNT to Bybit, marking its first wallet outflow in two months, while BGB remained its largest holding. On BSC, a reserve manipulation attack targeting TMM/USDT used flash loans to distort reserves and generate profit of about 1.665 million USDT. Drift Protocol said its April 1 attack may have resulted from a six-month infiltration, with investigators linking the incident to North Korean actors with medium-high confidence.

Japan Exchange Group also said companies holding more than 50% of their assets in cryptocurrencies would be excluded from major indices, citing volatility and index stability concerns. Separately, Block launched BTCday, a Bitcoin faucet backed by about 15 BTC. The report described it as a return of public Bitcoin giveaways after 16 years, though some developers suspected it also served as promotion for Bitkey and Cash App.
