The crypto market’s total capitalization climbed to $2.14 trillion on July 2, up 1.9% over the past 24 hours, while total trading volume reached $83.5 billion. Bitcoin advanced to $60,131 and Ether traded at $1,619. Prices moved higher, but sentiment stayed fragile: the Fear & Greed Index rose from 11 a day earlier to 19, still firmly in Extreme Fear.
BTC and ETH gain ground while SOL and NFP lead trending activity
Among the largest assets, BTC added 2.35% in 24 hours with $38.4 billion in trading volume and a market capitalization of $1.2 trillion. ETH gained 2.97%, posting $11.6 billion in volume and a market cap of $194 billion. Bitcoin’s market dominance stood at 55.8%, while Ethereum accounted for 9.01%.
In the trending list, Solana traded at $78.26, up 6.05%, with volume of $3.81 billion. NFPrompt (NFP) rose to $0.009924, recording a sharp 103.24% jump on volume of $444.34 million. MemeCore gained 64.20%, Jupiter rose 12.69%, and Morpho added 12.18%. On the losing side, Worldcoin fell 8.99%, Audiera dropped 6.48%, and Velvet slipped 4.66%.
The source also listed OpenAI token at $0.058299 with a 99.6% decline over 24 hours and $142.67 million in trading volume. That conflicts with the headline’s claim of a 99% surge, leaving a clear inconsistency inside the source material itself.
Stablecoins edge up as DeFi posts a slight decline
Sector data showed stablecoins rising 0.1% over the past day, bringing the category to a market value of $307.3 billion and trading volume of $70.4 billion. DeFi, by contrast, slipped 0.1%, with total capitalization at $66.7 billion, trading volume at $4.11 billion, and global dominance at 4.3%.
Institutional flows, on-chain governance, and enforcement updates shape the backdrop
On the institutional side, ParaFi Capital withdrew 56 million SKY tokens worth about $2.98 million from Coinbase Prime. Its total SKY holdings now stand at 126 million, even as the position reflects an estimated $1.72 million unrealized loss. Forward Industries added more than 500,000 SOL to its treasury, pushing total holdings above 7.55 million SOL.
Infrastructure and product news also accelerated. Cloudflare opened a waitlist for Monetization Gateway, a service designed to let developers charge for webpages, APIs, datasets, and AI tools using stablecoin payments through the x402 protocol. dYdX Labs launched Arcus on Robinhood Chain, offering perpetual trading tied to 95 tokenized stocks; the foundation said dYdX Chain operations and governance remain unchanged. The Solana Foundation introduced Solana Governance Proposals, enabling validators to submit and vote on ecosystem decisions through on-chain, stake-weighted governance verified with Merkle proofs.
Regulatory and security developments remained active. France recorded 77 crypto-related kidnapping and extortion cases this year and, after arresting around 200 suspects, said authorities would expand intelligence sharing, industry coordination, and international enforcement. The U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control added 134 crypto wallets tied to ISIS-K sanctions, and Tether froze the affected TRON addresses. Separately, Drift officially rebranded to Velocity after the platform’s earlier $280 million security incident, with a private beta expected soon and a stated focus on stronger architecture and security.
