New York-based crypto trading technology platform Talos announced a $45 million extension to its Series B funding round, with participation from Robinhood, a16z Crypto, BNY, and Fidelity Investments. The company is now valued at approximately $1.5 billion, underscoring continued institutional appetite for crypto trading infrastructure.

Series B Extension Details

Talos had originally raised $105 million in a Series B round in May 2022. The latest $45 million extension brings the total Series B to $150 million, at a valuation of roughly $1.5 billion. CEO and co-founder Anton Katz said the round attracted strategic partners who recognize Talos' role in digital asset core infrastructure and want to be closely aligned with the company's growth.

New and Returning Investors

New strategic investors in this round include Robinhood Markets, Sony Innovation Fund, IMC, QCP, and Karatage. Existing backers a16z Crypto, BNY, and Fidelity Investments also participated. Johann Kerbrat, VP of Robinhood Crypto, noted Talos' flexibility and fast adaptation improve liquidity and enable advanced features for Robinhood Crypto customers. The investment signals Robinhood's growing push into crypto trading and blockchain infrastructure, including building its own blockchain network, tokenized stock trading, staking services, and perpetual contracts.

Business Model and Market Reach

Talos provides institutional-grade trading technology that aggregates liquidity from exchanges, OTC desks, and prime brokers. It offers professional investors, brokers, and banks tools for trade execution, risk management, and post-trade settlement. The company now serves hundreds of clients across about 35 countries, with 60–70% of new clients in the past year being traditional financial institutions. Katz previously stated in a Jefferies client call that asset managers using Talos oversee approximately $21 trillion in assets under management.

M&A Driven Expansion

Talos has been actively expanding through acquisitions, including Coin Metrics, D3X Systems, Cloudwall, and Skolem, strengthening its capabilities in on-chain analytics, market data, and trading infrastructure. This extension round will further support its growth strategy in the institutional crypto trading market.
