On-chain data shows wallets holding at least 100 million DOGE saw their combined balance surge to 108.52 billion tokens by the end of April, worth approximately $11.6 billion at current prices. According to analytics platform Santiment, this all-time high accumulation aligns with a 23.5% price increase for Dogecoin during April, underscoring the active role large holders played in driving last month's gains.
Record Large Transactions and Physical ETP Launch
On April 28, Santiment recorded 739 single-day transfers exceeding $100,000 each — the highest count in six months. The same day saw the launch of a physical Dogecoin exchange-traded product (ETP) on Germany's Xetra platform, offering institutional investors a new entry point. The convergence of heavy on-chain activity and a new ETP product has amplified market attention.
Technical Breakout Targets $0.131
From a technical perspective, Dogecoin's price recently broke above a descending triangle formation — typically a bearish pattern but, when accompanied by aggressive buying, capable of producing upward moves. Drawing a parallel to Bitcoin's rally after China's mining crackdown in 2021 (a similar trendline break), analysts see potential for DOGE to climb toward $0.131 in May, aligning with its 200-week simple moving average. That level sits above the average cost basis of wallets holding at least 10,000 DOGE ($0.115) and the broader cost region of $0.132. Historically, recapturing these levels has led to sustained rallies as more holders return to profit and selling pressure wanes.
20-Week EMA Resistance and Downside Risks
On the flip side, Dogecoin is currently testing resistance near its 20-week exponential moving average. A stall at this level could weaken the uptrend, potentially sending DOGE back to the recent short-term low of $0.088 during May. The interplay between whale concentration and technical signals suggests continued volatility in the weeks ahead. Large holders appear to be gaining influence over price direction, with accumulation patterns closely tied to sharp swings.
The arrival of a physical Dogecoin ETP on an established exchange provides new institutional pathways, but whether it drives sustained inflows remains uncertain. All eyes are now on whether DOGE can hold above key resistance levels this month as investors weigh strong accumulation against the risk of renewed sell-offs.
