Noble Mobile, a U.S.-based telecom startup founded by former presidential candidate Andrew Yang, has completed its acquisition of Helium Mobile. According to joint announcements, Noble Mobile takes over Helium Mobile's wireless service business, gaining access to an existing subscriber base and a network relationship allowing traffic routing through Helium's decentralized wireless infrastructure. The Helium Network and its native HNT token remain under existing operational structures, with Nova Labs retaining stewardship.
Acquisition Scope Clarified; Community Concerns Addressed
The deal sparked debate around whether a decentralized project could effectively be sold. Helium co-founder Amir Haleem clarified that the transaction covers only the consumer-facing Helium Mobile service, not the Helium Network itself. Hotspot operators continue earning HNT rewards by providing coverage and data transfer services for telecom providers including AT&T. The network currently operates over 138,900 community-run hotspots.
Existing Helium Mobile subscribers can keep their phone numbers and service remains active during migration. Pricing details will be communicated as the transition progresses, with the company stating affordability remains a priority.
Network Usage Burns HNT Daily; 7-Day Deflation Rate at 9.72%
Blockworks data shows the Helium ecosystem burns approximately $50,000 worth of data credits each day. These credits are created by burning HNT, contributing to token demand through the mint-and-burn economic model. The platform also indicates a rolling seven-day deflation rate of 9.72% for HNT.
HNT Price Under Pressure: Technical Indicators Bearish
Market reaction to the acquisition has been muted, with HNT gaining only 1.7% in 24 hours amid a longer-term downtrend. On the daily chart, HNT recently broke below the lower boundary of a falling wedge pattern that had been forming since February. While falling wedges often resolve upward, the bearish breakdown signals sellers remain in control. The MACD sits below its signal line with negative histogram readings, while the Aroon indicator shows Aroon Down at 100% and Aroon Up at 0% — a configuration typical of a strong downtrend. HNT now tests support near $0.60. If that level fails, the next major downside target is the psychological $0.50 area. On the upside, the former wedge support between $0.65 and $0.70 now acts as the first resistance zone bulls need to reclaim.
