Ledger introduced Ledger Atom at its Op3n 2026 event on Oct. 15, marking the company’s first device designed to run everyday apps rather than serving only as a signer. Reservations opened at $849, while post-launch orders are priced at $899 in Ledger’s press release. CEO Pascal Gauthier said customers had been asking for a Ledger phone for years, but described Atom as a different kind of product. According to Ledger’s product page, the device uses 4G and 5G for data but cannot place calls, send SMS, or access emergency services. Technically, Atom splits functions between a standard operating system based on the Android Open Source Project and a separate secure chip running Ledger OS, with an FPGA moving the display into Secure Mode when approvals are required. Ledger also disclosed, the same day, its account of a hardware implant attack involving genuine devices altered with hidden components to capture recovery phrases and resold through Southeast Asian resellers. The company said the attack did not involve a flaw in its chip, operating system, or servers. Solana Mobile, Cyber50, Persona, and potential integration work with Kraken parent Payward were also named in connection with the launch.

Ledger unveiled Ledger Atom at its Op3n 2026 event on Oct. 15, introducing what it described as its first device built to run everyday apps. The company opened reservations at $849 and said it expects to deliver the product in 2027.

CEO Pascal Gauthier said customers had long asked the company for a Ledger phone. 「Today, we answer. Not with another phone. With something new,」 he wrote.

Ledger’s product page describes Atom as a data-only device. It uses 4G and 5G networks for data, but it cannot place cellular calls, send SMS messages, or reach emergency services.

Two systems operate on the same device

In a post about the product’s design, CTO Charles Guillemet said Atom runs a standard operating system built on the Android Open Source Project on its main processor, while Ledger OS runs separately on a secure chip.

He said a dedicated FPGA circuit, controlled by Ledger OS, shifts the display into Secure Mode whenever a user needs to approve something. 「The screen is the most important piece of Ledger Atom, because many of the worst attacks work by faking what you see,」 Guillemet wrote.

In the same post, he said the device includes an active shield around its secure zone, designed to detect tampering before a unit reaches its owner. A hardware Privacy Switch cuts power to the camera and microphone.

Ledger disclosed a hardware implant attack the same day

The Atom launch came on the same day Ledger published its account of a hardware implant attack. The company said criminals modified genuine devices with hidden components that captured recovery phrases and sold them through Southeast Asian resellers.

Ledger said there was no flaw in its chip, operating system, or servers. It added that it is working on more protections at the product level. Atom-related announcements did not mention the incident.

Partners, integrations and reservation terms

According to Ledger’s press release, Solana Mobile named Ledger its first hardware expansion partner, and the Seeker app will come preinstalled on every Atom device.

Gauthier said Ledger is exploring integrations with Payward, the parent company of Kraken. He also said the company counts UAE firm Cyber50 as a launch partner and has named Persona its first identity partner.

Atom also supports Ledger Agent Intent, a feature that sends AI agent requests to the user for physical approval on a Ledger signer. In a post on X, Ledger wrote: 「Agents propose. You approve. Your Ledger signer enforces.」 The company said the feature is already available on compatible signers.

Reservations for the Founders Edition require a fully refundable $100 deposit. Ledger’s press release says orders placed after launch are priced at $899.

The delivery timeline differs slightly across Ledger’s own materials. Gauthier’s post estimated delivery in the second quarter of 2027, while the press release and product page say summer 2027. Ledger said delivery depends on product certifications, including approval from the U.S. Federal Communications Commission, or FCC. The company also said buyers are reserving a device still in development, and that both specifications and pricing may change.
