Lighter said its Lighter EVM Devnet is now live, marking the rollout of a new EVM-equivalent Rollup built in collaboration with Axiom. The network is based on OpenVM and runs in parallel with Lighter Core, with both systems set to settle to Ethereum through a single zero-knowledge proof. According to the announcement, developers can deploy contracts using common Ethereum development tools including Foundry, Hardhat, Viem, and Ethers. They can also access data from Lighter Core, including accounts, balances, positions, orders, and market data. In addition, smart contracts on Lighter EVM can be used to place, modify, and cancel orders. Lighter also said assets can be moved across Devnet L1, Lighter Core, and Lighter EVM. Developer access is currently being rolled out in batches, with teams able to apply by email. The company said broader access for all developers is planned in the coming weeks.
