Strategy disclosed in a Monday SEC filing that it purchased 22,337 Bitcoin for $1.57 billion last week, at an average price of $70,194 per coin. The acquisition brings the firm's total Bitcoin holdings to 761,068 BTC, with a cumulative cost of about $57.61 billion and an average purchase price of $75,696 per BTC.
12th Consecutive Weekly Purchase, Largest of 2026
This marks the company's 12th straight week of Bitcoin accumulation. It is also the fifth-largest weekly purchase ever by Strategy and the largest this year, surpassing the 22,305 BTC acquired in January. Following the news, Bitcoin traded at $73,600, up 2.6% in 24 hours.
Funding Shift: STRC Sales Surpass MSTR for First Time
To fund the purchase, Strategy raised capital through equity offerings: 11.8 million STRC shares (net proceeds $1.18 billion) and 2.8 million MSTR shares ($396 million). For the first time in 2026, STRC stock sales exceeded MSTR sales in funding weekly Bitcoin buys, reflecting stronger trading activity in STRC shares.
Before the filing, Michael Saylor hinted at the move by sharing the company's Bitcoin tracker with the phrase "Stretch the Orange Dots," referencing the use of STRC stock. Strategy remains the largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder worldwide, and its sustained accumulation strategy shows no sign of slowing.
