Fourier Upgrade: What Changed
According to BNB Chain developers, the opBNB Fourier hardfork activated at 03:00 UTC on January 7, 2026. The core change, identified as PR#305, reduces the block interval. Node operators were instructed to upgrade to supported versions to stay synchronized. Zhao confirmed on X that the hardfork executed successfully.
Why Faster Block Time Matters
For users, a 250ms block time means quicker confirmations and smoother on-chain experiences across DeFi apps, games, and payment platforms. Developers gain the ability to build high-speed applications requiring near-instant results. As a Layer-2 network built on BNB Chain using Optimistic Rollup technology, opBNB now competes more aggressively with other fast L2s while keeping fees low.
BNB Price Action: Resistance Broken, Momentum Intact
After the hardfork, BNB traded in the $910–$912 range, posting a modest daily gain and extending its weekly uptrend. CoinMarketCap data shows the coin breached $910 resistance, with RSI in the mid-60s — strong but not overheating. MACD indicators are positive, and volume remains robust, signaling sustained demand.
If BNB holds above the $900–$905 support zone, a move toward $928 is possible, followed by $950–$1,000 in the coming weeks. A pullback to the 200-day moving average near $890 could occur if market weakness returns, before resuming the uptrend.
