The team behind the Ethereum NFT collectible series Doodles revealed on Thursday its intention to debut an animated movie accompanied by music in the summer of 2024. The project shared that the film will showcase a soundtrack inclusive of three videos and voiceovers from Pharrell Williams, Dwayne ‘Lil Wayne’ Carter, and Coi Leray.
Star-Studded Cast and Roles
Doodles unveiled its upcoming movie, “Dullsville and the Doodleverse,” slated for a summer debut, as shared in an X post on Apr. 4. Describing it as “A groundbreaking storytelling experience from Doodles [and] Pharrell Williams,” the announcement was made on Thursday. In the film, Coi Leray takes on the role of “Deysi,” with Lil Wayne starring as “Captain Stoke,” as Doodles pointed out. The X post elaborated, “Dullsville and the Doodleverse will bridge Doodles’ iconic style with an elevated and cinematic filter, pioneering an unprecedented format of animation … and yes, OG’s are at the center of it all.”
NFT Sales Skyrocket 318%
Following the announcement, Doodles NFT sales witnessed a 318% increase on Thursday, according to cryptoslam.io data. Since its inception, the Doodle NFT collection has amassed $648.49 million in secondary NFT sales. Doodles further promised fans “exclusive merchandise and digital collecting opportunities.”
Global Release Plan
Doodles indicated that a global release would succeed the movie’s premiere, as confirmed on Thursday. “This campaign, dubbed ‘Project Gray’ will begin to roll out early summer and will culminate in an immersive premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, followed by a global release,” the team concluded. Lil Wayne, also referred to as ‘Weezy,’ reposted the Doodles’ X post, stating: “Captain Stoke • ᴗ •”
This collaboration marks a significant trend of NFT projects expanding into film and entertainment, leveraging celebrity star power and high-quality content to enhance brand value. With the backing of music icons and rising stars, Doodles aims to bridge the gap between digital collectibles and mainstream media, potentially attracting a broader audience to the Web3 ecosystem.
