Pi Network mandates node upgrade by March 12, followed by Pi Day 2026 on March 14. Pi coin jumped 9.35% in 24h to $0.216, with 29% weekly gain. AI compatibility tests and a new token framework proposal also emerge.

The Pi Network community is bracing for a busy week. All node operators must upgrade to v20.2 by March 12 or risk losing connection, halting transaction validation and node rewards. Desktop users on Windows and Mac get automatic updates; Linux users need a quick command. The upgrade aims to bolster network stability, transaction reliability, and security.

Two days later, Pi Day 2026 (March 14) arrives — a tradition since the project’s 2019 launch. Past events have debuted ecosystem maps, domain auctions, and PiFest. While no major launch is confirmed, the date often sparks heavy speculation and volatility.

Pi Coin Price Outperforms Flat Market

Pi coin rose 9.35% in the past 24 hours to $0.216, eclipsing a largely stagnant crypto market. It also climbed 29% over 7 days and roughly 46% in 30 days. Holding the $0.20 support could allow a retest of $0.25 resistance; a breakdown below $0.20 may cause a pullback toward $0.18. Rising trading volume will be key to confirming the next move.

AI Compatibility Test and New Token Framework

A case study involving an AI/robotics startup showed that more than 421,000 nodes across 1M+ CPUs processed AI workloads in under four seconds. If developed further, node operators could earn rewards for contributing spare computing power, though this remains a proof of concept.

Separately, the team released a proposed Ecosystem Token framework on GitHub, modeled after Ethereum’s ERC-20 standard. Tokens could be created on Pi blockchain, with liquidity pools enabling direct swaps. The proposal is open for community feedback, with no launch date yet, but likely to coincide with future milestone dates.

For now, all eyes are on the March 12 upgrade and March 14 Pi Day. The upgrade secures the network; Pi Day may bring new announcements. The coming days will shape Pi Network’s next phase.
