Weekly net Bitcoin buying by publicly listed companies worldwide, excluding mining firms, reached $1.16 billion as of 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Aug. 3, 2026, according to SoSoValue. That was up 7,186.43% from the previous week.
Strategy sold Bitcoin and repurchased preferred shares
Strategy reported about $105 million in proceeds on Aug. 3 after selling 1,638 BTC at $63,957 per coin. Its Bitcoin holdings fell to 842,138 BTC.
The company also spent $81.2 million to repurchase 912,143 shares of STRC preferred stock on the same day.
Metaplanet stayed on the sidelines for a third straight week
Japan-listed Metaplanet did not buy Bitcoin last week. It has now gone three consecutive weeks without a purchase.
Five other companies disclosed purchases
Outside of Strategy and Metaplanet, five companies reported Bitcoin purchases during the week.
- Ethereum treasury company Bitmine said on July 27 that it bought 1 BTC. It did not disclose the purchase amount. Its total holdings reached 208 BTC.
- Asset manager Strive said on Aug. 3 that it spent $1.26 million to buy 20 BTC at $63,191 each, bringing total holdings to about 20,020 BTC.
- Brazilian Bitcoin company OrangeBTC said on Aug. 3 that it spent $1.9933 million to acquire 30 BTC at $66,443 each, taking total holdings to 3,948 BTC.
- U.K. Bitcoin company The Smarter Web Company said on Aug. 3 that it deployed $750,000 to buy 11.89 BTC at $63,328 each, lifting total holdings to 2,712 BTC.
- French Bitcoin company Capital B said on Aug. 3 that it bought 1 BTC at $64,601.90, bringing total holdings to 3,140 BTC.
Total corporate holdings stood at 1,138,643 BTC
At the time of publication, tracked public companies worldwide excluding mining firms held a combined 1,138,643 BTC. That was down 0.07% from a week earlier. The holdings were worth about $71.42 billion and accounted for 5.7% of Bitcoin’s circulating market capitalization.
