Layer 1 blockchain project TAC said an attacker exploited a vulnerability in the precompile layer of the Cosmos EVM module, stealing about $7.5 million from one account and moving roughly 2.986 billion TAC tokens out of a custody account. The project said no new tokens were minted and that the incident involved only TAC tokens, with no impact on other assets. TAC has halted its network at block 24,671,475 and frozen all transactions, deposits, and withdrawals while working with exchanges to trace the stolen funds. The disclosure follows a similar attack previously reported on MANTRA Chain involving the Cosmos EVM module. On the same day, the Term Labs protocol was also attacked, with losses of about $8.5 million. Earlier reports said the Cosmos EVM module had suffered a security incident, and the official recommendation was for affected blockchains to suspend operations.
