Rakuten Wallet, the cryptocurrency arm of Japan’s Rakuten Group, has added XRP to its platform, allowing users to convert Rakuten Points directly into the token without making a fiat deposit first. The change ties a major consumer rewards system to crypto access and brings XRP closer to day-to-day spending activity.

Rakuten’s loyalty program has issued more than 3 trillion points, with an estimated value of about $23 billion. After converting points into XRP, users can move that value into Rakuten Cash and spend it through Rakuten Pay. The payment app serves nearly 44 million users and is accepted at more than 5 million merchant locations across Japan.

Points, wallet balances and payments now connect through XRP

The listing goes beyond adding another token for trading. It creates a route from loyalty rewards to crypto exposure and then into a spendable balance inside Rakuten’s payment network. Users can exchange points for XRP, transfer the value into Rakuten Cash, and use it through Rakuten Pay. That shortens the path between digital assets and retail usage.

Rakuten Wallet has also launched a promotion tied to the rollout. Customers who meet the campaign conditions before May 15 can receive up to ¥100,000, or about $630, in XRP rewards. The article describes the move as placing Rakuten Wallet and its partners near the front of regulated retail crypto integration in Japan’s mainstream market.

XRP remains capped below a key technical level

On the market side, XRP has been trading near $1.37 ahead of and around the Rakuten rollout. Technical analysis in the source says the token has been moving inside a descending triangle since February, a pattern often associated with continued seller control.

Immediate resistance stands at $1.40, while $1.45 is viewed as the level where bullish momentum could start to return. For a clearer reversal of the bearish structure, traders are watching for a daily close above $1.43. A confirmed move through that area would suggest the chart’s downward pressure is fading and could open the way for a short-term recovery.

If XRP moves lower, support is expected near $1.29. Analysts are also watching $1.31 as a threshold, with a close below that level seen as a sign that selling pressure may increase. Market participants are now tracking whether the Rakuten Wallet listing can translate into stronger buying interest, though the effect may only become clearer in the weeks after launch as adoption data emerges.
