Rakuten Wallet said it is preparing a physical Shiba Inu coin for its “Real Coin” series, adding SHIB to a lineup that already includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, and XRP replicas. The company said earlier coins in the series were well received at event booths, and the SHIB version is now in production, though no release date was provided.
The item is a souvenir rather than a blockchain-based asset. Rakuten Wallet described it as part of an offline engagement strategy that lets users see and handle crypto-themed replicas at events. For SHIB, the campaign gives the token a broader retail-facing role in Japan, extending its use beyond trading screens into branded promotions, user rewards, and physical merchandise.
Spot trading campaign adds SHIB rewards
Rakuten Wallet is also running a SHIB promotion tied to spot trading volume. Users who trade more than 30,000 yen in spot crypto can receive 500,000 SHIB, worth about 500 yen. Those who trade more than 100,000 yen can receive an additional 1,000,000 SHIB, worth about 1,000 yen.
The reward is small in value, but the structure shows how Japanese platforms are using meme coins in consumer campaigns. SHIB’s low unit price makes it easy to distribute large token amounts in low-cost promotions. The same coverage noted that Rakuten Wallet recently launched a dog photo contest that rewarded selected users with SHIB and DOGE, and that the platform had added both assets earlier this year.
Rakuten’s consumer network widens crypto reach
Rakuten Wallet operates within Rakuten Group, one of Japan’s largest consumer internet companies. That gives SHIB exposure beyond the audience usually reached by crypto-native platforms. Earlier Rakuten-linked crypto efforts included XRP features that let users convert loyalty points into XRP and use the asset for QR payments at more than 5 million merchant locations in Japan.
Previous reporting said Rakuten Pay had about 44 million active users, while Rakuten’s broader loyalty ecosystem had more than 3 trillion points in circulation. Separate reports also said SBI, Rakuten, and Nomura were preparing crypto investment trusts in Japan, while the country has been working through tax and market rule changes for digital assets, including discussion around a 20% crypto tax rate.
SHIB price stays weak despite marketing activity
The retail push arrives while SHIB remains under pressure in the market. According to crypto.news price data, SHIB traded around $0.0000043 to $0.0000044 on June 25. The token was down more than 9% on the week and over 20% across the past month.
Its market capitalization stood near $2.5 billion to $2.6 billion, with 24-hour trading volume around $74 million to $80 million. SHIB also remains far below its October 2021 all-time high of $0.0000862. The report noted that retail campaigns do not automatically change market direction, with short-term moves still tied to risk appetite in meme coins, liquidity conditions, and Bitcoin’s trend.
