Ripple joined JPMorgan and Mastercard in a cross-border settlement pilot using XRP Ledger to redeem tokenized U.S. Treasuries, settling simultaneously on blockchain and traditional banking rails for the first time.

Ripple, JPMorgan, and Mastercard completed a cross-border settlement pilot that connected the XRP Ledger with traditional banking infrastructure through tokenized U.S. Treasuries. Ondo Finance disclosed the transaction on X, highlighting its near-real-time settlement outside normal banking hours.

How the Pilot Worked: Tokenized Treasury Redemption and Bank Settlement

During the pilot, Ripple redeemed Ondo Short-Term U.S. Government Treasuries on the XRP Ledger. Mastercard's Multi-Token Network then routed settlement instructions to Kinexys by JPMorgan, which delivered U.S. dollars into Ripple's Singapore bank account. The entire process ran outside conventional banking hours, reflecting growing interest in continuous settlement capabilities.

Ondo Finance stated this marked the first time tokenized U.S. Treasuries settled simultaneously across blockchain infrastructure and traditional banking systems. The XRP Ledger acted as the blockchain layer for the tokenized asset transfer, Mastercard handled routing, and JPMorgan's Kinexys completed the banking settlement — creating a direct operational bridge between blockchain-based assets and institutional financial rails.

Industry Trend: Financial Firms Push Toward Continuous Settlement

Traditional banking operates within limited hours, while blockchain networks run 24/7. More firms are testing hybrid models that combine regulated banking with blockchain infrastructure. The Ripple-Mastercard-JPMorgan pilot reflects that broader industry direction. XRP supporters viewed the move as another sign of large financial institutions exploring practical blockchain settlement tied to real-world assets.

Ripple's presence in institutional blockchain development is expanding beyond standard payments into tokenization, settlement systems, and cross-border infrastructure. This pilot reinforces the XRP Ledger's growing utility in institutional finance.
