The Solana Foundation says its blockchain is being positioned as core infrastructure for an agentic internet, a model in which AI systems do more than generate content or assist users. In this framework, AI agents can initiate, coordinate, and complete economic activity on their own, creating a new class of machine-native transactions.

According to the announcement, Solana has already processed roughly 15 million on-chain AI agent payments. Stablecoins emerge as the default payment tool

Sub-cent micropayments could reshape monetization

A central part of Solana’s thesis is that AI agents, using programmable payment features, can support sub-cent micropayments.
