SpaceX shares are now accessible on Solana as a tokenized asset. On June 12, 2026, crypto wallet and exchange platform Backpack, alongside issuance infrastructure provider Sunrise, launched SPCX — a tokenized right representing SpaceX equity. Eligible investors can hold these tokens and convert them into actual shares through regulated brokerage channels, effectively linking traditional brokerage accounts with blockchain infrastructure.
How SPCX Works: From Token to Real Stock
According to the joint statement, Sunrise handles the issuance and distribution of SPCX, choosing Solana for its high throughput and 24/7 accessibility. Backpack CEO Armani Ferrante emphasized that this setup allows core securities to move across different financial systems. Users can initiate redemption or tokenization processes after verification, with transactions processed on Solana at any time — a flexibility rarely seen in traditional stock markets.
The token is not identical to a direct share; its conversion rights depend on the issuance model and custody arrangement. Verified accounts can convert SPCX back into SpaceX stock or tokenize existing shares.
Self-Custody and 24/7 Trading on Solana
A major highlight: SPCX can be stored directly in personal Solana wallets. This gives users the ability to hold their assets without relying on a central custodian, integrating regulated brokerage services with blockchain-based self-custody. Trading, buying, and transferring SPCX happen on-chain around the clock, breaking the time barrier of traditional Nasdaq trading hours.
Dual Market Structure: Nasdaq and Solana in Parallel
SPCX will become available at the same time as SpaceX's anticipated Nasdaq listing. This simultaneous rollout enables both traditional stock trading on Nasdaq and on-chain token trading on Solana, potentially allowing synchronized price discovery across two markets. Backpack and Sunrise stressed that the structure operates alongside regulated brokerage partners. Redemption requests, after eligibility checks, convert tokens into underlying shares. Access will be gradually expanded based on supported jurisdictions and partner platforms.
Interest in tokenized versions of traditional assets has surged recently, and SPCX represents the latest example — bringing stock market exposure to a broader audience through blockchain infrastructure. Investors should be aware of the high volatility and risks associated with crypto assets and conduct their own research.
