Zoom enterprise users can now display a “proof of human” badge in meetings through a new World ID integration, part of a global rollout of biometric identity verification technology from Sam Altman-backed World. The feature is now live in the Zoom Marketplace and is designed to help participants confirm that a person appearing on a video call is real rather than an AI-generated impersonation. Before showing the badge, the system compares data from World’s iris-scanning Orb, a live selfie and the participant’s video feed. World first revealed the Zoom integration in April during limited beta testing with VanEck Funds, and says the product is now available worldwide for Zoom enterprise customers. The company also named Bain Capital, Pantera Capital and other financial firms as early design partners for its broader identity tools. The launch comes after several high-profile deepfake and impersonation cases, including a 2024 incident in which an Arup employee transferred about $25 million after scammers posed as executives in a video conference, and a February case involving suspected North Korea-linked hackers using fake Zoom meetings to deliver malware to crypto and fintech firms.

Zoom enterprise customers can now see “proof of human” badges in video meetings, a new verification feature aimed at showing whether a person on screen is real. The capability comes from World’s biometric identity technology and has now rolled out globally.

World ID for Zoom goes live in the Zoom Marketplace

World said Sunday that World ID for Zoom is now available in the Zoom Marketplace. The project is backed by Sam Altman.

According to the company, the system compares an image captured by its iris-scanning Orb, a live selfie and the participant’s video feed before displaying a Human Badge that other meeting participants can see.

Feature expands beyond earlier beta testing

World first announced the Zoom integration in April, when the product was in limited beta testing with VanEck Funds. It is now available globally to Zoom enterprise customers.

World also named Bain Capital, Pantera Capital and other financial firms as initial design partners for its broader identity verification technology.

Launch follows AI impersonation incidents

The rollout comes after a series of AI-generated impersonation cases. In 2024, an employee at engineering firm Arup transferred about $25 million after scammers impersonated executives during a video conference.

In February, suspected North Korea-linked hackers used fabricated video feeds in fake Zoom meetings to trick crypto and fintech companies into installing malware.

Company statement

Quoted by Fortune, World said: “World ID for Zoom is designed to protect sensitive, high-stakes conversations by proving that a real and unique human is present.”
