On February 2, Spur Protocol's SON token began trading on CoinStore under the SON/USDT pair, opening at $0.050. Days later, the community anticipated a token airdrop claim via a Spores Network contract on February 6. The following day, the team issued a public clarification—no such airdrop was planned and no tokens had been traded on any exchange. The contradiction sparked immediate confusion.
Team Accuses Exchange of Unauthorized Actions, Petitions for Delisting
In its official statement, the team claimed that CoinStore had not facilitated token deposits, and that the project itself had never sold any SON tokens. The team shared a new contract address, stating that only exchange, market-making, launchpad partner, and staking test wallets held the tokens. It further alleged that CoinStore conducted market operations and deducted USDT without permission. These accusations led the community to question whether Spur Protocol is a scam or a victim.
Huostarter Refunds IDO, Community Split
Following the scandal, launchpad platform Huostarter refunded all IDO participants. The subscription had reached 50,000 USDT before trading opened on February 2, and community deposits were scheduled for February 6. However, the token price had declined before deposits could be made. Huostarter cited suspicious centralized exchange activity as a red flag and canceled the IDO. Some viewed the refund as responsible damage control, while others saw it as confirmation of instability.
Airdrop Suspended Indefinitely, On-Chain Incentives Attempted
The project announced that all further airdrops and new exchange listings are indefinitely on hold. The projected SON token airdrop claim remains pending. Investors are now watching for three things: an updated claim date, fidelity in reward systems, and open blockchain verification. To rebuild trust, the team stated it will move most reward systems directly onto blockchain infrastructure, aiming for greater transparency, automation, and decentralization. However, the community remains wary as no deployment schedule has been provided.
No Confirmed Fraud Yet, but Warning Signs Abound
Currently, no confirmed evidence of fraud exists. Positive signals include a publicly shared contract address, blockchain holder transparency, a formal delisting request rather than a silent exit, full IDO refund via Huostarter, and a proposed on-chain incentive restructuring. Negative signals equally weigh: sudden trading confusion, a canceled airdrop after listing, exchange delisting, and IDO refunds—factors that keep most investors in wait-and-see mode.
As of now, no new Spur Protocol listing date has been announced. The team says it will focus on stabilizing infrastructure before considering relisting. Community sentiment is reserved but not entirely negative, with most awaiting verifiable on-chain updates before making a move.
