Toady Hawk, a member of the Base Security Council, said in a Nov. 3 post on X that he has accepted the CEO role at token launch platform Clanker and will lead its relaunch.
Hawk said Clanker is now managed by Mask Network, which also manages Firefly and Lens Protocol. He added that Mask Network has been working with the engineering team on the restart and that more arrangements will be announced later.
Clanker’s history and platform changes
Looking back on the project, Hawk said Clanker was born on Farcaster about two years ago. Users could issue a token by posting on the timeline and tagging the platform.
Clanker later expanded to X and at one point became the token issuance platform with the highest trading volume on Base. Hawk mentioned communities tied to the platform, including BNKR, DRB, and FAIR.
He also said the platform later went through early founder disputes, a sale to Farcaster, and a transfer to Neynar. According to Hawk, multiple handoffs over roughly the past 18 months affected the project.
Priorities after taking the role
Hawk said he has been self-directed in his work since age 17 and usually prefers to run projects he started himself, but he decided to accept the position.
He listed several priorities after taking over the role:
- refreshing the brand while keeping Clanker’s original character;
- improving external communication;
- working with the engineering team to align features with current leading launch platforms;
- adding stock trading pairs, support for new chains, and one day-one support feature that he did not name.
Beyond product updates, Hawk said he wants to rebuild trust with builders and trading communities, support early communities that are still building, and bring new launches back into the feed.
He also said he will help projects planning to issue meme tokens, stock trading pairs, or app tokens, and work with developers who want to keep building on the Clanker protocol.
Clanker’s official account posted later the same day that the relaunch is loading.
