UBS Group, one of the world's largest banks managing nearly $5.7 trillion in assets, has quietly gained exposure to XRP through regulated ETF products. A recently surfaced SEC Form 13F filing shows the banking giant holds approximately 197,369 shares of the Volatility Shares XRP ETF, valued at roughly $1.49 million, along with a smaller position in the Grayscale Investments XRP fund worth about $8,248. While tiny for a firm managing trillions, the move signals that major institutions are now looking beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum toward XRP.
UBS Filing Reveals XRP ETF Holdings Details
The SEC Form 13F quarterly report confirms UBS did not buy XRP directly on spot markets but instead used exchange-traded products that fit within traditional compliance and custody frameworks. This approach allows large players to gain crypto exposure while minimizing operational and regulatory risks tied to direct token ownership.
Although the size is minuscule relative to UBS's total assets, the disclosure is seen as a milestone — when the world's largest wealth manager starts allocating to XRP-linked products, other asset managers may follow suit.
Goldman Sachs, Hedge Funds Join the XRP Rush
UBS is far from alone. Goldman Sachs previously disclosed approximately $153.8 million in XRP-related exposure spread across multiple investment funds, making it one of the largest institutional XRP positions revealed to date. Bank of America also reported a smaller stake in the Volatility Shares XRP ETF worth roughly $224,000.
Large hedge funds are also entering the space. Millennium Management, a top global hedge fund, disclosed XRP exposure alongside its massive Bitcoin ETF investments. Citadel Advisors, the market-making giant, entered XRP-linked products earlier in 2026 as part of its expanding crypto operations.
Why Institutions Prefer ETF Exposure Over Direct Holdings
Traditional banks approach crypto differently from retail investors. Rather than holding tokens directly and managing private wallets, institutions favor regulated ETF structures that come pre-packaged with compliance checks and custody solutions. This reduces operational headaches and regulatory uncertainty.
Despite growing institutional interest, XRP price remains under short-term pressure. The token is currently trading near $1.38, down roughly 1.6% over the past 24 hours. The market is watching whether sustained ETF inflows from Wall Street heavyweights will eventually shift XRP's supply-demand dynamics.
