PANews’ weekly selection gathered a broad mix of crypto, AI and macro stories, ranging from security incidents and exchange activity to market structure and founder interviews.
AI-focused reads led the feature list
One of the highlighted pieces examined Bill Gates’ long essay warning that AI is advancing too quickly. The article focused on AI’s disruptive effect on jobs, especially entry-level roles for younger workers, the lower barrier it creates for dangerous activity such as cyberattacks and biological weapons, and the concern that AI could take away part of the human growth process.
Another article asked why some writing sounds machine-made. An a16z crypto analyst broke the issue down through rhetoric, voice, structure and punctuation, arguing that common traits in AI-generated writing are not exclusive to machines but often an amplified version of human habits. The piece looked at how writers can avoid empty phrasing and improve efficiency.
A separate macro-themed essay linked AI to liquidity conditions and rate expectations. It argued that stronger AI development could actually increase the case for Federal Reserve easing, citing a 60% probability of rate cuts by year-end, Treasury buybacks, and competition for the same pool of liquidity between tech debt and U.S. Treasuries. It described AI-driven credit expansion as still being in its early stage.
The roundup also included a piece on computing power becoming a financial asset. It traced the line from Nvidia defining GPUs as collateralizable assets, to CME launching computing-power futures, to Shanghai arranging research around similar products, framing compute as an asset that can be priced, traded and pledged.
Macro and market coverage
In the macro section, one story revisited NBA star Kevin Durant’s venture track record, including an early $250,000 investment in Hugging Face that may now be worth more than $60 million.
A Glassnode-related piece looked at Bitcoin after a sharp rally. It said BTC climbed 26% before running into a supply wall between $81,000 and $86,000, while spot Bitcoin ETFs pulled in $2.23 billion over a single week, giving the rebound visible capital support.
Another article tied Bitcoin’s move to U.S. Treasury policy and comments around Treasury Secretary Bessent. It discussed intervention in long-dated Treasuries, higher inflation expectations, the weaponization of the dollar system, and faster institutional allocation into Bitcoin. The piece also mentioned expectations ranging from a $2 billion buyback to a possible trillion-dollar backstop.
Huang Licheng’s high-leverage trading returned as a market talking point. According to the selected article, his account rose from less than $60,000 to $12.1 million within days, and he continued to stay aggressively long after nearly 500 liquidations. The report noted that a market reversal could expose him to liquidation again.
Executives and public figures in focus
CZ answered 15 questions in Hong Kong about Binance, the Web3 cycle and startup advice for younger founders, saying, “I’m still that ordinary person, I’ve just been through a bit more.”
Sun Yuchen was featured in another interview that moved from the “expensive banana” to the “expensive bride price” discussion. He said this time it was “really not marketing” and also spoke about going from “100% listening to AI” to doubting Claude for the first time.
In coverage tied to Bitcoin Asia, CZ spoke about a coming “Bitcoin century” and said $1 million would happen quickly, but added that price was not the only answer. He pointed instead to payments, reserves and AI integration.
Shenyu’s latest interview focused on builders in the AI era, long-termism, Bitcoin and core asset investing, as well as the future of Web3 and agents.
Tom Lee also drew attention. The article said BitMine had raised its ETH holdings to nearly 5% of supply over 14 months. Lee described ETH as a store of value, said staking yield can cover costs, and predicted ETH could top $5,000 in the next bull cycle and possibly exceed $10,000 within one to two years as tokenization and AI demand grow.
Early-stage projects and security warnings
In the “spot opportunities” section, one article reviewed the 24 projects backed by YZi Labs and discussed which ones may be worth early interaction. It also carried a clear caveat: having points does not guarantee a token, YZi Labs’ backing does not guarantee an airdrop, and readers should do their own research, especially where real capital is required.
Security firm Socket said it found 40 malicious browser extensions in Firefox’s official add-on store. The extensions were disguised as mainstream wallets including OKX and Rabby Wallet and were designed to steal seed phrases and private keys. The report said they were linked to 37 “sports tool” shell plugins, touched 77 code repositories, and had remained active since March 2026.
Entropy became another heavily discussed name during the week. The selected piece focused on zero-fee arbitrage, strong airdrop expectations and the wave of promotion from KOL accounts.
YZi Labs also announced the EASY Residency S4 incubated projects. All 24 early-stage teams received a $500,000 investment, with work spanning stablecoin payments, on-chain foreign exchange and AI agents.
Another article turned to Zcash, saying it broke above $800 to a new high while Grayscale continued to push an ETF application.
HyperEVM was also heating up. HYPE reached a record high, meme token EGG surged and then pulled back, and the article reviewed utility-focused names such as Kinetiq and HyperLend while discussing how to approach the ecosystem during a spike in gas fees.
Web3 developments and exchange trends
Ethena Foundation rolled out a package of tokenomic and ecosystem reforms on Aug. 27, including buybacks and other measures, which pushed ENA sharply higher in the short term.
A separate story tracked the DeFi buildout on Robinhood Chain. It said classic Ethereum-style DeFi mechanics are being recreated there, while some protocols are being adapted for new assets and new use cases. According to the article, some projects have already moved into the chain’s leading tier by revenue and TVL, and the asset base is expanding from native crypto assets to RWA products such as tokenized stocks.
Sui co-founder Kostas launched Havenex, positioning it as digital asset infrastructure for traditional financial institutions with a focus on compliance and multi-chain custody rather than retail users.
The most serious security failure in the roundup came from Cosmos. The article said a high-risk patch for the Cosmos EVM module was made public without advance notice to downstream projects. Treasuries on MANTRA, TAC and KiiChain were then drained by attackers, and the KII, TAC and NES tokens each lost more than 90% within hours. The report described the episode as an avoidable security disaster and criticized the coordination failure.
On the exchange side, Upbit accelerated listings. As of August, the platform had opened KRW pairs for 61 tokens this year. New listings accounted for 27.6% of trading volume in August, up from 5% in January. Over the same period, total monthly market volume fell from KRW 72.7 trillion to KRW 27.1 trillion, a 63% drop. The related article argued that in a bear market, new listings are helping offset weaker trading activity.
