PANews has published its weekly selection of featured stories, spanning AI, macro themes, market commentary, DeFi, and project developments across the crypto sector.
AI stories dominated the week’s lineup
One of the central themes was the valuation race between Anthropic and OpenAI. PANews said both companies are pushing toward trillion-dollar valuations, while Chamath argued that AI’s actual return on investment remains very low and suggested companies should go public before the bubble breaks.
Another featured article examined how AI has affected work from 2023 to 2026. According to PANews’ summary, programmers have been hit first, the gap between junior and senior workers has widened, and task-based models offer a way to read how occupations may split in the years ahead.
PANews also highlighted Nvidia’s expanding “physical AI” push in Japan. The article said Nvidia is working with Fanuc, Yaskawa and Toyota to advance robotics and autonomous driving, with Japan becoming a core part of its global AI strategy.
In the overlap between AI and crypto, a long essay from Circle’s CEO argued that blockchain and AI are reshaping global finance. The piece said an agent economy could give rise to on-chain companies, while stablecoins may become the monetary base for machine-speed transactions.
Another entry focused on nine prominent cross-industry figures who joined Anthropic this year, including Karpathy and Nobel laureate John Jumper. PANews said the group is betting that AI will serve as foundational public infrastructure over the next decade.
The AI bubble argument escalated further with a 15,000-word bearish essay that described the current setup as essentially an “OpenAI bubble” and warned that a collapse at OpenAI could trigger liquidation pressure across global equities.
Macro coverage ranged from banking scrutiny to US markets
On the macro side, PANews featured a piece asking whether traditional banks, rather than crypto rails, have been the biggest channels for money laundering. The article referenced institutions including Wachovia and HSBC, then contrasted those cases with on-chain USDT transactions in a discussion of what qualifies as “clean” money.
Another story argued that US stocks have become deeply tied to national strategy, saying Donald Trump is turning the US into a fund as the country approaches the 250th anniversary of its founding.
The bubble debate also extended to large-cap tech. PANews cited a piece that revisited the 2000 internet bust through the examples of Nortel and Cisco, then asked which historical comparison Nvidia should now be measured against.
In one Wall Street market brief, PANews said PPI data reinforced the view that inflation is cooling. It also noted comments from Warsh that higher AI prices do not necessarily produce inflation, said Apple’s market value was approaching $5 trillion, and added that SpaceX had fallen below issue price. A separate article reviewed Warsh’s remarks on Capitol Hill over two days, saying his debut cleared an initial test through hawkish comments but that he still has to prove he can balance inflation control against political interference.
Executives and investors focused on tokenization, DeFi and positioning
Among the institutional and personality-driven pieces, Robinhood’s CEO said retail investors are the real smart money, US stock market participation could reach 90%, tokenized assets are the future, and AI will not replace human trading.
a16z took a different line on the relationship between decentralized and traditional finance. PANews said the firm views the “DeFi and TradFi convergence” narrative as false, arguing that traditional finance has not embraced DeFi and is only adopting selected blockchain components.
Trader Taiki Maeda, in another featured interview, said the market has moved into a reasonable allocation window. PANews said he is constructive on growth in RWA perpetuals tied to Hyperliquid and Lighter, while also arguing that Bitcoin faces risks from possible selling by Saylor and from quantum computing. The same summary described Zcash as anti-fragile after a steep decline.
Stablecoins, AI agents and machine economy themes gained traction
In its opportunity-focused section, PANews cited a Binance report on the next phase of stablecoin growth. The piece said stablecoins are moving beyond use as crypto trading tools and becoming core digital financial infrastructure across savings, yield, payments and on-chain foreign exchange.
PANews also included Variant’s 10 core investment assumptions after the fund raised $222 million. Those assumptions included the view that AI agents will dominate traffic and that compute shortages will persist.
A separate article on Wintermute’s outlook argued that the battle over crypto infrastructure has already been settled and that machine economy applications are the next field of competition, with AI agents and robots becoming economic actors in their own right.
One of the more market-specific stories centered on Hyperliquid. PANews said ChangXin Memory Technologies priced its STAR Market IPO at RMB 8.66, while Trade.xyz deployed a CXMT perpetual contract on Hyperliquid with an on-chain trading price of 7.2 USDC, or about RMB 52, and $1.32 million in 24-hour volume. The article described this as the first time an on-chain pre-market contract has targeted a STAR Market A-share company, giving overseas investors a DeFi channel into China’s domestic memory-chip narrative.
Base, Robinhood Chain and Trade.XYZ stood out in Web3 coverage
In project coverage, PANews said NOXA shut down after earning substantial fees over the course of a week, raising questions about whether Uniswap CCA would fill the gap and what comes next for Robinhood Chain meme activity.
Robinhood Chain appeared in two separate pieces. One said the network had entered the global top five even as the founder’s wallet was compromised. Another argued that the traffic brought in by Robinhood Chain does not solve UNI’s core problem because passive AMMs still carry fixed costs that cannot be eliminated.
Trade.XYZ was another focus. PANews said Hyperliquid has grown against the cycle and that Trade.XYZ accounts for nearly half of its trading volume, but speculation over a possible token launch has unsettled the community and raised concern that HYPE could lose attention.
Base’s social token effort was one of the clearest setbacks in the roundup. PANews said Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong publicly acknowledged that Base’s content-token strategy had failed, and that ZORA’s market capitalization had dropped 95%.
