ZEC briefly tops $833 and sets a fresh record
On Aug. 22, ZEC briefly surged past $833 in early trading, marking a new all-time high, according to HTX market data.
The move caps a sharp run: ZEC is up 67% over the past 7 days, 230% over the past 180 days and 1,970% over the past year.
Three recent catalysts are drawing attention
BlockBeats listed three major developments behind the latest momentum.
First, Grayscale filed a fourth S-3 amendment as it moves to convert the Zcash Trust into a spot ETF, with the proposed ticker ZCSH. The filing also disclosed that a DCG subsidiary is in non-binding discussions about contributing about 200,000 ZEC, valued at roughly $110 million at the time.
Second, Cypherpunk Technologies, backed by the Winklevoss twins, launched what it called the world’s largest ZEC mining cluster. The company said it controls about 18% of the network’s total hash power and continues to add to its ZEC treasury.
Third, the Ironwood network upgrade, or NU6.3, has gone live. According to the report, it fixes a vulnerability in the Orchard shielded pool and strengthens both security and verifiability, helping funds migrate and confidence recover across the ecosystem.
Volatility remains high
BlockBeats said the combination of a rising privacy narrative and a market short squeeze has made ZEC one of the best-performing privacy coins in this cycle. It also noted that the token remains in a highly volatile range.
