Ethereum L2 Protocol Loopring DEX Shuts Down, Team Details Asset Distribution Plan
Ethereum Layer 2 protocol Loopring announced an immediate halt to all DEX trading services, taking its relayers offline. The team cited lack of meaningful adoption, lack of a virtual machine in its early zkRollup design, and the delisting of LRC tokens from major exchanges in 2026 as key factors. Modern zkEVM solutions have rendered its architecture obsolete. The shutdown process includes publishing final balance lists, upgrading contracts to whitelist-only transfers, a two-week review period, and batch distribution of assets to L1 wallets for accounts with balances exceeding $10. Users need to take no action and pay no gas fees.
