Crypto and tech updates on July 23: Binance expands bStocks collateral, ZIL and bridge exploits draw scrutiny

A broad set of market, security, regulatory, and infrastructure developments emerged between late July 22 and early July 23. Binance said it will add 10 tokenized bStocks securities as eligible collateral and open margin trading for their related pairs, while Upbit designated Zilliqa’s ZIL as a closely watched asset and suspended deposits and withdrawals after security concerns tied to its wallet or distributed ledger. Zilliqa then disclosed a serious Ledger app nonce flaw affecting native, non-EVM ZIL transactions, saying private keys could be recovered from around five affected signatures. Security incidents also hit B² Network and an AFX-operated bridge in the Arbitrum ecosystem. Elsewhere, Payward said xStocks is expanding tokenized equities beyond U.S. names, Sui launched the Hashi Bitcoin interoperability testnet, BNY Mellon outlined plans for round-the-clock Treasury settlement, and several firms including OpenAI, Alphabet, Revolut, Tesla, and Samsung disclosed major product, spending, or financial updates. The flow also included U.S. legislative movement on the Clarity bill, SEC commentary on on-chain vaults and lending strategies, whale ETH purchases, and fresh market views from Grayscale and Bitwise.

Coinbase settles FOIA case with SEC as Korea’s top crypto exchanges see volume plunge 88%

A packed 24-hour cycle in crypto brought a mix of regulatory developments, exchange stress, security breaches and fresh ETF flow data. Coinbase said it has settled its Freedom of Information Act lawsuit with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, with the SEC agreeing to pay $150,000 and revise its record-retention policies after missing communications tied to former Chair Gary Gensler. In South Korea, combined daily trading volume across the country’s five largest won-based crypto exchanges fell 88% from a year earlier, while Korbit sold BTC and ETH holdings to raise cash. SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce also warned that moving vaults and lending strategies on-chain does not automatically place them outside federal securities laws. On the security front, algorithmic stablecoin Balance Coin crashed more than 99% after an oracle attack, and several other incidents highlighted operational and key-management risks across the sector. Meanwhile, spot Bitcoin ETFs logged a sixth straight day of net inflows and spot Ether ETFs extended their inflow streak to three days, according to SoSoValue data.

Bitget UEX daily: U.S. stocks rebound sharply as memory names lead, while Bitcoin nears the $68,000 test

Bitget UEX’s July 22 market note said U.S. equities staged a sharp rebound after a multi-session pullback, led by memory and semiconductor shares, while gold, silver and crude oil all moved higher at the same time. In crypto, Bitcoin traded around $66,666 and Ether near $1,940, with spot Bitcoin ETFs posting a sixth straight day of net inflows. The report highlighted a dense long-liquidation zone at $65,500 to $66,000 and a sizable short-liquidity pocket between $67,500 and $69,000, leaving traders focused on whether BTC can break above $67,000 and push through the broader $68,000 resistance area. The note also pointed to a packed earnings schedule for July 22, with Alphabet, IBM and Tesla set to report after the bell, making corporate guidance a key near-term signal for AI spending, cloud growth, Robotaxi progress and overall risk appetite. Beyond equities and crypto, the report tracked fresh developments across ETFs, listed Bitcoin treasury companies, Circle’s earnings date, Korean market regulation and Morgan Stanley’s latest Bitcoin accumulation.

July 15 market and policy roundup: SK Hynix jumps 22%, Waller says inflation fight is not done

Crypto market leaders and macro headlines moved together in the latest 24-hour cycle. On centralized exchanges, BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP and BNB all posted gains, while ZEC stood out by appearing both in the top trading-volume cohort and near the top of the gainers list. OKX data showed KAITO leading the 24-hour gainers table, while GMGN’s meme rankings featured SJM, BWO, WSB, SMELL and GRBG. Outside crypto, MSX.COM data showed SK Hynix rising 22% to $185.9 per share, setting a record high since listing and lifting its market capitalization to $1.36 trillion. Federal Reserve Chair Waller said the latest CPI report does not mean the job is finished, even as June CPI eased to 3.5% year over year from 4.2% in May. He also said the Fed remains committed to a 2% inflation target and will revisit its 2020 policy framework. Other developments included IBM’s 25% single-day drop, Iran’s statement that the U.S. had entered a formal state of war, a suspected hack of Noxa Fi’s X account, and fresh funding announcements involving Brinc, Flex, Velocity and Nous Research.
