Revolut handed over passport, address and Bitcoin records after mistaking a fake government request for a real one

Revolut has notified some customers that it disclosed personal and financial data after accepting what appeared to be a formal government information request that later turned out to have come from an unauthorized third party. The company said the request was sent from an unauthorized email account hosted within the infrastructure of a real government domain, allowing it to pass SPF, DKIM and DMARC checks. According to customer notices described in the report, the exposed data may include names, dates of birth, occupations, home addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, passport or driver’s license copies, selfie verification images, IBAN details, account status, account opening dates, wallet reference numbers, withdrawal records and full transaction histories, including Bitcoin transactions. As of Sept. 12, there was no public indication that Revolut’s systems had been breached, no evidence that passwords, card PINs or crypto private keys were stolen, and no public report that customer funds had been directly moved as a result of the incident. Revolut has not disclosed how many customers were affected or which government institution’s domain was abused.

Trezor says third-party email provider was breached in phishing campaign using fake STM32 flaw alert

Hardware wallet maker Trezor said on Sept. 9 that one of its third-party email service providers had been breached, allowing attackers to send phishing emails that appeared to come through legitimate Trezor-linked mail infrastructure. The messages used the subject line "Critical Security Alert: STM32 Entropy Vulnerability" and claimed that devices using STM32 microcontrollers faced a serious entropy flaw that could weaken wallet backup security. Trezor said the warning was fake, told users not to click any links or enter wallet information, and added that it had shut down the affected domain while investigating how access to systems tied to its legitimate domain was obtained. Users who posted email headers on Trezor’s official forum said the messages were sent via mailing.trezor.io, while some also reported that the emails passed SPF, DKIM, and DMARC checks. Independent security research said some malicious links initially redirected through a Trezor mail-tracking subdomain. Separate research pointed to Brevo as the platform involved, but Trezor has not officially named the breached vendor. The incident follows Trezor’s earlier disclosure that logistics partner ShipMonk had been breached, a case that later expanded to about 81,000 affected customers after the company found old order data had been retained in ShipMonk’s systems.

Home Appliance MCU Market Heats Up: Over a Dozen Vendors Launch New Chips as 32-Bit Prices Drop Below $0.10

More than a dozen semiconductor companies—including Megawin, Geehy, LKS, Nuvoton, NXP, MindMotion, and GigaDevice—released new MCU products targeting home appliance applications in recent months. The wave of launches spans motor control SoCs, touch-enabled 8051 MCUs, ultra-low-power USB MCUs, and Matter-ready Wi-Fi modules. Industry Online projects China's home appliance MCU market will reach 13 billion yuan in 2025, with 32-bit MCUs becoming the mainstream choice over legacy 8-bit and 16-bit parts. Price competition has intensified dramatically: some Cortex-M0 MCUs now sell for as little as 0.41 yuan (roughly $0.06) on e-commerce platforms. Vendors are trimming peripherals and resource configurations to hit rock-bottom price points, while engineers debate whether Matter connectivity upgrades could open the next growth chapter for the segment.

Meta AI unveils MetaRoCE, an RDMA transport built for AI-scale Ethernet

Meta AI has introduced MetaRoCE, a new RDMA transport protocol designed for AI workloads running over commodity Ethernet. According to Techub, the protocol departs from standard RoCE by treating the network as lossy rather than lossless, while shifting packet ordering, path selection, and recovery functions to the NIC layer. The stated goal is to address network bottlenecks that emerge during training across large-scale AI clusters. Meta said it plans to release the specification, a reference software implementation, and a compliance test suite through the Open Compute Project. Hardware support remains at an early stage. The protocol has already been validated on AMD Pensando programmable NICs, and implementations from other vendors are still in progress. The report said the announcement should be viewed more as an architectural decision than a purchasing one. MetaRoCE’s design choices include out-of-order delivery by default, native multipathing, fault tolerance in place of lossless networking, end-to-end congestion control, and topology independence. Techub cited MarkTechPost for the report, which said the protocol builds directly on Meta’s 2024 work on large-scale RoCE and its broader infrastructure evolution.

Altcoins climb back into focus as 92% of top 200 tokens rise and market cap tops $1 trillion

Altcoins posted broad gains after Bitcoin broke above $80,000, reviving talk of a fresh altcoin cycle. Data cited from Quantifycrypto showed that 184 of the top 200 tokens by market capitalization rose over the past week, equal to 92% of the group, while only 16 moved lower. Among large-cap names, ETH gained more than 31%, BNB rose more than 18%, HYPE added over 34%, DOGE climbed more than 31%, and SOL moved above $100 with a gain of more than 33%. Within the top 100 altcoins, STX, ENA, TRUMP, PUMP and PENGU led weekly performance, with gains of 133%, 85%, 75%, 72% and 68%, respectively. The report tied those moves to different drivers, including Bitcoin-linked staking demand for Stacks, Arthur Hayes’ bullish view on Ethena, rumor-fueled trading in TRUMP, revenue-backed buybacks at Pump.fun, and community speculation around Pudgy Penguins. CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost said altcoin market capitalization rose by about $215 billion between Aug. 19 and Aug. 22, pushing the sector back above $1 trillion. Glassnode added that 85% of altcoins now have funding rates above their own averages, a sign it said could keep the current altcoin run going for several more weeks.

Altcoins rebound with ENA and PUMP leading, but a broad-based rally may be harder to repeat

Altcoins have rebounded alongside Bitcoin and Ethereum, pushing the sector’s total market capitalization back to about $1.13 trillion and lifting daily trading volume from roughly $86.23 billion to a peak of $132.43 billion since Aug. 19, according to CoinGecko and CoinGlass data cited by PANews. Within the top 100 tokens by market value, the 30 best performers gained more than 34.9% on average over the past seven days, with ENA, PUMP, ZEC and AAVE rising 98%, 80.5%, 69.7% and 60.7%, respectively. The report says the move has not yet developed into a full altcoin season. CoinGlass’ altcoin season index has recovered to 48, still below the 75 level commonly used as confirmation. Bitcoin dominance also remains elevated at 57.6%, while the market share of the rest of the altcoin segment, excluding Ether and stablecoins, stands at 20.64%, with little recent change. PANews argues that money is returning selectively rather than spreading across the market. Capital has been concentrating in high-beta names, stronger narratives and tokens with clear catalysts, especially in privacy, DeFi, meme, payments and trading-related sectors. The piece also points to structural changes in the cycle, including greater participation from Wall Street institutions through spot ETFs and crypto treasury channels, as well as a sharp rise in the number of tokens competing for liquidity. In that setting, a future altcoin season may still arrive, but the old pattern of nearly every token rising together looks less likely.

CryptoQuant’s Darkfost says altcoins are showing early signs of an altseason

CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost said in a post on X that the altcoin market is showing clear signs of recovery and that market structure is starting to shift, with a possible early-stage altseason now taking shape. According to the data he cited, total altcoin market capitalization rose by about $215 billion in just three days, a gain of more than 24%, pushing the sector back above the $1 trillion mark. Darkfost said small- and mid-cap altcoins led the move. He noted that these assets tend to react more sharply to capital inflows because of their lower circulating market caps, while also carrying higher two-way volatility risk. Using Binance data, he added that recovery signals have strengthened: since last November, roughly 80% to 85% of altcoins had remained below their 200-day moving average, but 56% of altcoins listed on Binance have now climbed back above that level. He linked the trend reversal to a series of recent pro-crypto remarks from Donald Trump, including comments about the U.S. making large-scale Bitcoin purchases and support for the CLARITY Act. Darkfost also warned that the market has entered overbought territory in the short term, raising the risk of a temporary pullback.

CryptoQuant’s Darkfost Says Altcoins Added $215 Billion in Three Days

CryptoQuant analyst Darkfost said in a post on X that the altcoin market is showing clear signs of recovery and that market structure may be shifting into the early stage of an “altseason.” From Aug. 19 to Aug. 22, total altcoin market capitalization increased by about $215 billion, a gain of more than 24% in three days, pushing the segment back above the $1 trillion mark. According to Darkfost, small- and mid-cap altcoins led the move, reflecting their higher sensitivity to fresh capital inflows but also their greater two-way volatility risk. He also pointed to Binance data as another sign of improving conditions: after roughly 80% to 85% of altcoins had remained below their 200-day moving average since last November, 56% of altcoins listed on Binance have now reclaimed that level. Darkfost linked the reversal to recent pro-crypto signals from Donald Trump, including his Aug. 19 remarks that the U.S. would “buy Bitcoin on a massive scale” and his call for Congress to pass the CLARITY Act. He added that the market appears overbought in the short term and warned of a possible corrective phase.
