Bonkguy tops fomo profit rankings as 64-year-old trader rides Robinhood-chain meme bets

Bonkguy, the trader behind the @theunipcs account, has climbed to the top of the fomo platform’s profit rankings after a fresh wave of gains in meme coins tied to Robinhood-chain activity, according to a MarsBit report citing Odaily. A recent claim by crypto KOL Rune said Bonkguy is 64 years old, a detail that quickly turned him into a talking point across Chinese crypto circles, though Rune’s own credibility had already been damaged by the earlier FAMI and JINQIAN meme coin controversy. Arkham data cited in the report shows Bonkguy’s largest disclosed fomo holdings are PONS, USELESS and Marscoin, with positions valued at $6.8 million, $3.91 million and $3.14 million respectively. He also holds Microduck, BOW, and a long list of smaller meme tokens across Robinhood-chain and BSC. On Aug. 31, Bonkguy said his cumulative spot trading profit had surpassed $10 million, including more than $2.3 million over 24 hours and over $5.7 million in the last 30 days. The report also notes that his track record includes both spectacular wins and sharp losses. He said a BONK trade in 2023 turned a $16,000 principal, using 6x leverage, into a position worth more than $20 million. But he also said much of those earlier gains was later erased during last year’s "10·11" market plunge. More recently, he exited JINQIAN at a loss of about $118,700, down 80.42%.

In that update, Remixpoint also confirmed that it has sold the ETH, SOL, XRP and DOGE it previously held, and that bitcoin is now the only digital asset inside its crypto wallet. BlockBeats then flagged the filing and its figures to the market, showing that the company has consolidated its holdings into a single token.

Asia Express: Tether lawsuit, Thailand rule changes, and new crypto moves across the region

Cointelegraph’s latest Asia Express roundup spans a wide set of crypto developments across Asia and nearby markets. At the center is a lawsuit filed in New York by two Thai businessmen against stablecoin issuer Tether over the freezing of $42.4 million in USDT linked to a $61 million pig butchering case. The plaintiffs said the freeze came in October 2025 without a warrant after an informal request from US Homeland Security Investigations, while a seizure warrant was only issued later in February 2026. The case puts fresh attention on how far stablecoin issuers can go when freezing assets. Thailand also moved on regulation, with its Securities and Exchange Commission issuing Travel Rule requirements that cover crypto transfers, including those involving self-custodial wallets, effective Feb. 27, 2027. The same regulator is consulting on whether intermediaries should be allowed to give retail clients access to certain overseas crypto derivatives. Elsewhere, Pencil Finance said it completed a $1 million fully onchain student loan cycle serving 6,600 students in Southeast Asia. The regional update also includes moves by MAS in Singapore on stablecoins, ASIC’s warning to unlicensed crypto firms in Australia, Standard Chartered’s spot BTC and ETH trading launch in the UAE, and a series of developments in Japan, Hong Kong and South Korea.

Strategy CEO Defends Selling Bitcoin Lower and Buying Back Higher as Funding Conditions Shift

Strategy CEO Phong Le said the company was right to sell Bitcoin near $62,200 and later buy back at $80,318, arguing the trades were driven by financing conditions rather than price alone. According to Decrypt’s Morning Minute newsletter, Strategy sold 6,916 BTC in four tranches from late June through mid-August, then bought 4,603 BTC last week. Le said the sale helped fund STRC dividends at a time when issuing equity had become expensive, while renewed purchases made sense once MSTR traded at a premium again. During the roughly two-month pause, the company raised assets to $72 billion, built about $7 billion in dollar reserves, and reduced net debt from around $7 billion to zero. The report also said Strategy now holds 845,050 BTC worth about $65.4 billion. Elsewhere, Bitcoin ETFs posted $101 million in net inflows on Wednesday, Ethereum ETFs saw $48 million in net outflows, Kraken parent Payward pushed its IPO timeline to no earlier than Q2 2027, and Binance recorded more than $1 billion in August stablecoin inflows.

BonkGuy says USELESS hit record trading metrics, with his unrealized profit above $2.04 million

Trader BonkGuy, also known as Unipcs, said USELESS is posting rapid growth across several key metrics. In his latest post, he said the token’s 24-hour trading volume on Coinbase and Kraken had both moved above DOGE, with a similar overtake on European platform Bitvavo. He also said USELESS added more than 6,900 holder addresses over the past week, pushing the total number of holders to a new all-time high. BonkGuy added that USELESS has reached record highs in both perpetual futures open interest and perpetual trading volume. Over the last 24 hours, perpetual volume topped $1.2 billion, while spot volume came in at about $104 million. He also said USELESS is now one of the highest-volume meme coins on Solana and repeated his view that it could become a core meme coin in the current market cycle. Separate figures cited in the update show BonkGuy’s USELESS position is worth about $2.8868 million. Against cumulative capital of roughly $878,300, that leaves an unrealized gain of around $2.0491 million, or about 233%.

CLARITY Act Heads to Senate Cloture Vote on Sept. 15 as SEC Advances Its Own Crypto Rulebook

SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the CLARITY Act will face a Senate cloture vote on Sept. 15, where 60 votes are needed to advance debate. The bill, H.R. 3633, missed its pre-recess window in August after disputes over ethics language and stablecoin yield provisions. A successful cloture vote would still leave several hurdles, including final Senate passage, House review and a presidential signature. Atkins also said the SEC has already moved ahead with its own backup framework. On Aug. 18, the agency proposed "Regulation Crypto Assets," a separate rulemaking track that would create securities-law registration exemptions for certain token offerings and open a 60-day public comment period. That means the legislative track and the regulatory track are now running in parallel. The Senate is set to reconvene on Sept. 14, leaving only 14 working days before the end of September. If the bill does not clear the Senate by then, the odds of a year-end finish would shrink further. The next key date is Sept. 16, when the Federal Open Market Committee will announce its rate decision. If CLARITY becomes law, BTC and ETH would be classified as digital commodities under CFTC oversight, while a grandfather clause would treat several spot ETF assets listed before Jan. 1, 2026 — including XRP, SOL, LTC, HBAR, DOGE and LINK — as commodities by default.

Bitcoin Slips Into ‘Rektember’ After Its Best August Since 2017

Bitcoin opened September on weaker footing after posting a 25% gain in August, its strongest monthly rise since November 2024 and its best August performance since 2017, according to Decrypt’s Morning Minute newsletter by Tyler Warner. The piece says BTC fell below $77,000 as broader risk markets softened, with oil prices and sovereign bond yields climbing. Warner notes that September has historically been Bitcoin’s weakest month on average since 2013, though the last three Septembers have still finished in positive territory. The newsletter ties current pressure to macro developments. Fed Chair Kevin Warsh emphasized elevated inflation in his Jackson Hole speech on Friday, while the U.S. 10-year Treasury yield rose to 4.784% and markets priced in a 66% chance of a 25-basis-point hike at the September 16 meeting. WTI crude also moved to $88 a barrel, up 2% on the day and its highest level since late July, after continued U.S. strikes against Iran. Beyond Bitcoin, the update covers $237 million in net outflows from spot Bitcoin ETFs on Tuesday versus $8.6 million in inflows to Ethereum ETFs, an SEC proposal that would let blockchains function as official ownership records for transfer agents, plans by 21 banks and asset managers to form a stablecoin company in 2026, and fresh activity across Robinhood Chain, meme coins, token launches, and NFTs.
