Robinhood has officially launched the public mainnet of Robinhood Chain, a Layer 2 built on the Arbitrum stack and positioned for institution-grade, permissionless, AI-native, and RWA-focused onchain finance. The launch quickly attracted major crypto protocols including Uniswap, 1inch, Lighter, Morpho, Chainlink, BitGo, Ethena, and EtherFi. The bigger debate, however, emerged around Arcus, the new decentralized exchange developed by the dYdX team and deployed on Robinhood Chain rather than on dYdX Chain. Arcus offers 24/7 zero-fee trading for 95 tokenized stocks and perpetual contracts, and has already opened an early waitlist. This product direction aligns closely with the tokenized equities narrative, but it also raises difficult questions for the existing dYdX ecosystem. Investors are now asking whether dYdX Labs is shifting its strategic center of gravity, whether dYdX Chain may lose relevance, and whether the DYDX token will continue to capture meaningful protocol value. Those concerns intensified after Antonio Juliano said a future Arcus token could allocate a portion to the dYdX community. While intended as reassurance, the comment increased market focus on potential new token incentives and airdrop expectations. DYDX fell more than 12% over the past 24 hours, with market capitalization at roughly $108 million, highlighting how sensitive the market remains to questions of product focus, token economics, and ecosystem alignment.
