Coinbase to Launch US Perpetual-Style Futures on July 21: Nano Bitcoin and Ether Contracts

Coinbase Derivatives announced on July 2 that it will launch US Perpetual-Style Futures on July 21, starting with nano Bitcoin (0.01 BTC) and nano Ether (0.10 ETH) contracts. These contracts feature a five-year expiration, 24/7 trading, and a funding rate mechanism (accruing hourly, settling twice daily) to keep futures prices aligned with spot markets. Designed as a domestic, regulated alternative to offshore perpetual platforms, the products aim to eliminate regulatory, custody, and counterparty risks for US traders. This follows Coinbase's acquisition of an EU MiCA license (from Luxembourg) on June 20, which allows it to operate across all 27 EU member states under a single framework, serving approximately 450 million Europeans.
