Bitget CEO Confirms Talks with BlackRock for Asian Crypto Distribution

Bitget CEO Gracy Chen revealed in a CoinDesk interview that the exchange is in talks with Wall Street giants including BlackRock for Asian crypto product distribution. The talks focus on leveraging Bitget's 125 million registered users as a distribution channel for traditional financial products. Asia's blockchain transaction volume surged 69% YoY, the highest globally, according to OECD data. BlackRock estimates Asian household wealth at $108 trillion, and a 1% allocation to crypto could bring $2 trillion inflows. BlackRock is already building its Asian digital asset presence, posting a new digital asset role in Singapore in December 2025. Bitget data shows 52% of its users are dual-asset holders, holding both crypto and traditional stocks. Coinbase UK CEO Keith Grose noted that Coinbase already provides custody for BlackRock's US Bitcoin and Ethereum ETPs. If the Bitget-BlackRock deal materializes, exchanges could evolve from trading platforms to financial product distribution endpoints. Key factors include Taiwan's VASP regulatory status and the potential for tokenized ETFs to reach retail investors directly through crypto exchanges.

Bitget Wallet APAC Lead: Asian Stablecoin Endgame to Be 'Wallet Entry + Local Currency Payment Rails'

During the 'Asian Stablecoin Race' panel at FUTUREMODE 2026, Will Wu, Asia Pacific lead of Bitget Wallet, shared his views. He argued that the real indicator of stablecoin adoption in daily finance is not issuance growth but the formation of recurring payment habits. In July, Bitget Wallet's daily payment transactions surpassed trading transactions for the first time. Card users average 10 payments per month with an average of $28 per transaction, indicating everyday spending behavior. On monetary sovereignty, Wu noted that the currency users want to hold and the currency merchants need to receive do not have to match; wallets should help users understand their currency exposure without complex conversions. He predicted that by 2027, Asia's stablecoin market will develop a coordination layer architecture with crypto wallets as the entry point, connecting dollar-pegged stablecoins with local currency payment rails through regulated partners.

Taipei Blockchain Week Rebrands as FUTUREMODE, Expanding Into AI and Emerging Tech in September 2026

Taipei Blockchain Week, an event that has been held in Taiwan for more than a decade, is being rebranded as FUTUREMODE this year. According to information released by the organizer, the event will run from Sept. 4 to Sept. 6, 2026, at Taipei Expo Park’s Pavilion of Dreams and shift beyond its earlier blockchain- and Web3-centered focus to cover AI, digital assets, and broader emerging technology topics. The event is organized by experience design company Onboard, with Google Cloud and the Taiwan Blockchain Enthusiasts Association, or TABEI, listed as co-organizers. Organizers estimate the three-day program will draw more than 10,000 attendees, feature over 150 speakers, and include more than 30 workshops. A separate BUILDMODE hackathon, co-hosted with student computing conference SITCON, is expected to bring in more than 500 developers across six AI-related tracks. FUTUREMODE will also include a digital art exhibition and a music festival. Organizer Tiffany Lai said the future will emerge where technology, culture, and community meet, while the broader Taipei schedule places the event as the final stop in a nine-day, four-event technology run spanning late August to early September.

Taipei Blockchain Week Rebrands as FUTUREMODE, Sets Sept. 4-6 Event at Taipei Expo Park

Taipei Blockchain Week is being renamed as FUTUREMODE, with the revamped event scheduled for Sept. 4-6 at the Taipei Expo Park’s Expo Dome in Yuanshan. Speaking at a media briefing for the “Taipei Trendy 2026” technology festival, event director Tiffany Lai said the team did not begin as an event company five years ago, but as a DAO with a simple mission: connect Taiwan to the world through technology. That vision later became Taipei Blockchain Week. Lai said the scope of discussion has widened well beyond crypto and blockchain. In her account, AI is reshaping every industry and digital assets have matured into financial infrastructure, making a single-technology label too narrow for what the event now aims to cover. FUTUREMODE will be organized around four tracks: Learn, Build, Experience, and Recharge. The Learn program includes more than 100 global speakers, over 40 talks, demos and panels, plus more than 30 workshops. Build introduces the event’s first Build Mode hackathon, designed for more than 500 developers across six tracks, with prizes exceeding $6,000 and additional compute credits. Organizers also expect more than 10,000 visits overall, with support from Taiwan’s National Development Council and Startup Island Taiwan. Speakers from Google, NVIDIA and AMD are also set to attend.
