Semiconductor, memory and optical networking stocks slip in U.S. premarket trade, with CRDO down 8.77%

U.S. stocks tied to semiconductors, memory and optical communications moved lower in Wednesday premarket trading, according to market data from BIT (bit.com) cited by BlockBeats on Sept. 2. The decline was broad but mostly modest across semiconductor names, including Lam Research, Intel, Applied Materials and Arm. Memory stocks also traded lower, with SK Hynix, Micron Technology, Western Digital, SanDisk and Seagate Technology all in the red before the open. Optical networking and related names showed the sharpest weakness among the groups mentioned. Astera Labs, Applied Optoelectronics, Coherent and Lumentum all posted declines, while Credo stood out with an 8.77% drop, the steepest fall among the listed stocks. The move reflected a generally softer tone across the three hardware-related segments in premarket trading rather than an isolated decline in a single name.

Glass substrate adoption may hinge on a 2027-2029 ramp, with TSMC CoWoS seen as the key marker

Rising demand for heterogeneous integration in AI chips is pushing package sizes sharply higher, and that has brought glass substrates back into the center of semiconductor discussions. A Statementdog industry report cited by ABMedia says advanced packaging has expanded from "2x reticle" to "4 to 5.5x reticle" in two years, increasing warpage risk and making glass one of the most closely watched material options for next-generation packaging. The report separates two very different uses of glass in packaging: temporary carriers used during manufacturing and removed afterward, and glass substrates or interposers that remain inside the finished product. The second category is drawing most of the market attention. Glass is being considered because it offers adjustable coefficient of thermal expansion, high rigidity, and a very flat surface, traits that can help control warpage and support finer wiring and higher layer counts. At the same time, commercialization still faces major hurdles in TGV reliability, copper adhesion, and inspection methods for transparent material. According to the report, limited commercialization could begin in 2027, possibly in optical communications, while larger-scale production may not arrive until 2028 to 2029. The report says the most important signal for a real volume ramp will be whether Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) introduces glass substrates into CoWoS packaging lines, with that window estimated at late 2028 to early 2029.

U.S. semiconductor and storage stocks fall in intraday trading, with the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index down more than 3%

U.S. semiconductor and storage names moved lower during intraday trading on Sept. 1, according to market data from BIT (bit.com). The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell more than 3%, while several major chip and storage-related stocks posted losses across the session. Intel led the declines among the listed names, down 3.88%, followed by AMD at 3.48% and Nvidia at 3.25%. In storage, Micron Technology slipped 2.53%, Sandisk fell 2.26%, Seagate Technology lost 3.06%, and Western Digital dropped 1.94%. SK Hynix ADR also traded lower, down 2.41%. The move reflected broad weakness across the semiconductor and storage segment during U.S. market hours.

Fable meme coin crashes on Robinhood Chain as creator claims hack while deployer wallet keeps collecting fees

A meme coin called "i am fable" on Robinhood Chain swung wildly within hours of launch, briefly climbing above a $10 million market cap before falling more than 90%. The sell-off followed two X posts from Kevin Ngo, who said his account had been hacked and that he did not endorse any token. BlockTempo reported that the token’s deployer wallet matched an address previously shared publicly by @fablesmind, an AI-themed account linked to Ngo’s broader online presence. On-chain records reviewed in the report showed the wallet continued to collect revenue from PONS fee contracts even after the public denial. Over three hours, the address received 11 withdrawals totaling 79.99 ETH, worth about $197,000 at the quoted spot value in the article, including three post-denial withdrawals worth roughly $34,600. The wallet itself reportedly held no fable tokens. The report also said @fablesmind later posted a portfolio snapshot showing exposure to tokenized stocks including NVDA, AMD and INTC on Robinhood Chain, while Ngo had not explained how the account was compromised or who controlled the wallet at publication time.
