Hunter Biden reportedly plans LAPTOP memecoin with token distribution for TRUMP holders
Hunter Biden, the son of former US President Joe Biden, has signaled plans to launch a memecoin called LAPTOP, according to a post on X and a Wall Street Journal report cited by Cointelegraph. The token is set for a Wednesday launch, with a total supply of 1 billion. The report said 20% of that supply would be distributed to Biden’s Substack subscribers, members of a mailing list and investors in President Donald Trump’s memecoin, Official Trump (TRUMP). Cointelegraph said TRUMP has fallen about 97% from its all-time high reached in January 2025. The token’s branding draws on the long-running controversy around Hunter Biden’s laptop, which was widely scrutinized ahead of the 2020 US election. The report also said the LAPTOP founders would hold 30% of the supply and may burn as much as 30% depending on several events, including a Democratic victory in the 2028 presidential election, Bitcoin reaching a new all-time high and LAPTOP’s fully diluted valuation surpassing TRUMP’s. The launch, if it goes ahead, would arrive as the Senate prepares for a Sept. 15 cloture vote on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, or CLARITY Act.
