Kioxia shares rise 2.97% after GP1 SSD launch targeting AI storage

Kioxia rose 2.97% intraday on Aug. 4, according to Bitget market data, while the Nikkei 225 fell 0.53%. The move came as the company formally announced KIOXIA GP1, its first GP-series solid-state drive designed to support direct GPU access to high-speed flash storage. Kioxia said the product delivers 100M IOPS in random read performance. The company described the GP1 series as a product aimed at emerging AI storage architectures that bring high-speed flash media into the VRAM system. According to Kioxia, that setup allows AI systems to access larger datasets at a cost far below adding more HBM, while also improving GPU utilization.

Ethereum Foundation adds Pascal Caversaccio as fourth board member during governance overhaul

The Ethereum Foundation has appointed long-time ecosystem contributor Pascal Caversaccio to its board, expanding the body to four members and placing a prominent security researcher directly inside the organization’s top governance layer. The foundation said the initial term is set at one year and that the role is voluntary. Caversaccio, widely known in the community as pcaversaccio or pc, is a recognized Ethereum security researcher, co-founder of incident response group SEAL 911, and a participant in the foundation’s informal advisory group Silviculture Society. The move comes as the foundation continues a broader internal reorganization centered on values it describes as censorship resistance, open source, privacy, and security, or CROPS. Aya Miyaguchi said Caversaccio brings both security and privacy expertise as well as strong alignment with those principles. His authorship of The Ethereum Cypherpunk Manifesto has also drawn attention, with some community members linking the text’s emphasis on privacy, anti-censorship, and decentralization to the foundation’s current governance direction. The appointment lands during a period of structural change at EF. The Block previously reported that the foundation cut about 20% of staff in June and reorganized around five core R&D units, while several senior figures had already departed in earlier months. At the same time, outside groups including EthLabs, Ethereum Institutional, and EthSystems have emerged to take on parts of the work once handled by or expected from EF.

Ethereum at 11: Foundation Restructuring, Fusaka Activation, and a New Technical Push

Ethereum’s 11th year is shaping up as a transition point on two fronts: protocol design and institutional structure. Over the past year, the network activated Fusaka on mainnet, adding PeerDAS and later raising blob targets and gas limits to prepare Ethereum for more Layer 2 data throughput. At the same time, the Ethereum Foundation completed a broad reorganization, cut staff by 54 people, and narrowed its internal scope while related work moved into independent groups including Ethlabs, Ethereum Institutional, and EthSystems. A longer-range technical debate is also taking shape. Justin Drake’s Lean Ethereum vision and the EF Architecture-maintained Strawmap have pushed discussion toward finality, execution design, cryptography, state models, privacy, and post-quantum resilience. Vitalik Buterin has described this phase as a possible “third major iteration” after early Ethereum and The Merge, while stressing that the ideas remain under discussion rather than fixed commitments. Current network data helps explain why this phase matters. Ethereum mainnet still carries roughly half of global stablecoin supply by the cited datasets, leads tokenized real-world assets on RWA.xyz, and remains the top single network by DeFi TVL, even as a large share of execution has shifted to L2s. The next upgrades, Glamsterdam and later Hegotá, are expected to continue that redesign.

US spot Ether ETFs top $11.23 billion in cumulative inflows as Ethereum Foundation restructures

The Ethereum Foundation went through a series of organizational changes as Ethereum entered its 11th year, according to Odaily. Those changes included leadership departures, layoffs, the introduction of a new CROPS authorization, and the separation of EthLabs, Ethereum Systems, and Ethereum Institutional into independent entities. The foundation is seeking to decentralize its own role within the broader ecosystem. At the same time, Ethereum continued to advance on both the technical and institutional fronts. The network rolled out the Fusaka upgrade, while participation from Wall Street firms including BlackRock and JPMorgan added to its institutional footprint. In the US, spot Ether exchange-traded funds have now recorded more than $11.23 billion in cumulative inflows, marking a notable capital milestone during the same period. The update ties together governance changes at the foundation, ongoing protocol development, and rising institutional involvement around Ethereum.
