CFTC Approves First Bitcoin Perpetual Futures on US Regulated Exchange, Ending Offshore Monopoly
The CFTC has greenlit the first Bitcoin perpetual futures contract on a regulated US exchange. Chairman Mike Selig said the move supports Trump's goal of making America the 'crypto capital of the world.' Perpetuals previously dominated offshore venues with over 70% of centralized volume, reaching $61.7 trillion in 2025.
