Taiko also raised the Ether-paid gas limit on the bridge as part of an early adjustment for changes tied to EIP-8037.\n\nThe team said it also deployed a new BridgedERC20V2 template on both L1 and L2. Taiko added that the updated functions have completed end-to-end testing across ETH, ERC20, ERC721 and ERC1155 assets, and that bidirectional bridge scenarios were included in those tests.

LayerZero to end offchain services for 13 lower-activity chains including Taiko and Zora

LayerZero said it is gradually ending offchain support for 13 lower-activity blockchains, a move that affects Aurora, Taiko, Japan Open Chain, LightLink, Viction, Animechain, XPLA, Merlin, Gnosis, Zora, Otherworld Space, XAI, and opBNB. According to the company’s notice, those networks will no longer be able to use LayerZero’s Decentralized Verifier Network (DVN) and Executor services once the change takes effect. The decision will also cause Stargate Hydra to stop supporting some of the affected chains. LayerZero urged users to redeem Hydra-related assets on those networks, including USDC.e, wETH, and Hydra USDT. The company added that the exact list of affected networks and the effective dates should be confirmed through its official announcement.

Taiko DAO submits contract upgrade proposal to fix known bridge flaw

Taiko DAO said it has submitted Security Council Proposal 24, a package of contract upgrades covering four proxy contracts tied to the bridge and ERC20 Vault on Ethereum and Taiko, along with a new resolver registration on L2. The proposal includes three main changes. One would fix a known issue that causes delivery failures when tokens with Taiko as the canonical chain are bridged to Ethereum for the first time, leaving messages stuck in a RETRIABLE state even though funds remain safe. Another would raise the gas cap for ETH forwarding through the bridge from 35,000 to 135,000 to prevent smart contract wallets from becoming unable to claim messages after the EIP-8037, or Glamsterdam, upgrade. The third would add single-signature ERC20 bridging with support for EIP-2612 and Uniswap Permit2, removing the need for a separate approval transaction. Taiko said the code involved in the proposal has already been audited, and TAIKO holders have about 10 days to exercise veto rights.

Taiko says June security incident stemmed from offchain signing key leak and verification gap

Ethereum Layer 2 network Taiko has released its post-incident review of the June 21 security event, saying the attack began offchain rather than through a failure in zero-knowledge cryptography. According to the team, the attacker used a leaked signing key together with a missed validation check to forge proofs and bypass the protocol’s prover whitelist. Taiko said its zk-proof encryption was not affected. The project also detailed the measures that limited the damage. It said the bridge’s daily transfer cap slowed the outflow of funds, while the security council suspended both the bridge and the vault within hours, preventing additional movement of assets. Taiko added that no users suffered losses in the incident. In its accounting of the event, the team said the attacker stole about $1.75 million from the cross-chain bridge and vault, while more than $11 million was protected. Since the network resumed operations, Taiko said all balances on the network have been backed 1:1.
