UTEXO, backed by Boosty Venture Studio, Fulgur Ventures, and Tether Investments, is taking the lead on commercial deployment and positioning itself as the issuer and distributor in partnership with Tether. The setup combines RGB’s client-side validation model with the Lightning Network, allowing USDT to be handled on native Bitcoin addresses and transferred through Lightning-enabled wallets for faster and more private settlement. UTEXO argues that Bitcoin’s UTXO model improves privacy compared with account-based chains commonly used for USDT today, while deeper integration with Tether may reduce middlemen, fees, and data collection. The initiative is also a direct challenge to Tron’s long-standing dominance in USDT transfers. UTEXO says it is building the “last mile” infrastructure needed for broad Bitcoin-native USDT adoption, including SDKs, APIs, UI layers, and a live mint bridge.
