Cardano Foundation spins out Veridian and puts most of its shares on-chain under CIP-0113

The Cardano Foundation has spun out its digital identity project, Veridian, into an independent Swiss company and tokenized most of its 1 million shares on the Cardano blockchain. The move makes Veridian the first company to use Cardano’s new programmable-token standard, CIP-0113, for equity. The tokenized shares are not being offered to the public. According to the foundation, CIP-0113 allows issuers to set transfer rules on tokens, including who can receive them and whether assets can be frozen, seized or transferred when required for compliance. Cardano presented the standard a day earlier, and Veridian now serves as its first live equity use case. Veridian develops digital credentials using the open standards KERI and ACDC, aiming to let people, businesses and AI agents prove identity or authority without relying on a central database. Its mobile wallet is already live on iOS and Android, and the company has mapped Utah’s digital identity requirements under SB 275, which took effect in May. The company is led by Thomas A. Mayfield, formerly responsible for decentralized trust and identity solutions at the Cardano Foundation. Foundation CEO Frederik Gregaard, who also chairs Veridian, said the company plans to seek strategic investors in 2027 and argued that Veridian can serve the market for verifiable AI-agent identity more effectively as a standalone company.

Alkemya Metacore Raises $50M Pre-IPO Round, Plans Tokenized Equity ALKN

Investment and operations platform Alkemya Metacore has completed a $50 million pre-IPO funding round and plans to issue tokenized equity under the ticker ALKN to raise additional capital, according to Decrypt. Gumi Cryptos Capital led the round, with Maven 11, Metalayer, Joint Effects and Tribe Capital participating. The company holds about 7 million meters of ultra-high-purity nickel wire with 99.99% purity and a diameter of 0.025 millimeters. Independent verification values the asset at approximately $1.64 billion; the wire is in institutional custody in Lugano, Switzerland. Proceeds will be used to process the nickel wire into engineered mesh products applied in electromagnetic shielding, aerospace and defense, marine and desalination, power and industrial systems, semiconductors, green hydrogen and precious metal recovery. ALKN will be issued by Luxembourg-based Alkemya Metacore SCSp and is expected to trade on regulated venues such as Bitfinex Securities. Priced at $1 per token, the offering is open to institutional and professional investors until October 15. Under the return mechanism, investor capital is repaid first and receives a preferred return of 6% compounded annually. Commercial profits are split 80:20 between token holders and partners. The company says tokenized securities will help it reach global investors and provide 24/7 on-chain trading for traditional physical assets.
