The 2026 Ballon d'Or ceremony is scheduled for 20:00 GMT on Monday, 26 October, at London's Palladium Theatre. It will be the first time the event has been held in London.
Venue and date
The ceremony is traditionally held in France and has taken place at Paris' Theatre du Chatelet since 2019. Uefa says the move is to pay tribute to the inaugural winner, England's Stanley Matthews in 1956.
How the winners are decided
A dual voting system is used to determine Ballon d'Or winners. For the men's award, a finalised shortlist of 30 players is decided by a team of journalists from both France Football and L'Equipe and published a couple of months before the ceremony.
The men's shortlist is then ranked by 100 journalists from around the world, with their rankings combined to decide the winner. The Ballon d'Or regulations list the following in order of importance for jurors ranking players: Individual performances, decisive and impressive character.
Awards and coverage
There will be 13 awards given out at the ceremony. BBC Sport says its website and app will have live text updates from the ceremony all evening, covering every award.
Streaming platform Dazn will be broadcasting the full ceremony for viewers in the UK.
