Arsenal are dealing with Bukayo Saka being out after he went off injured 10 minutes into Wednesday's Champions League game against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena. Mikel Arteta said after the match that Arsenal need more information before they can put a timeline on Saka's recovery.
Arteta gives injury update
Arteta told reporters afterwards: "It doesn’t look good at all, but we have to wait and see. It’s his quad. It was early in the game, and the level of intensity his game requires is something incredible. The quality, strength and attention you need has to be at the highest level, and those things happen unfortunately."
In an earlier response to TNT Sports, the Gunners manager said it was "never a good sign" and described it as "a really sharp pain."
Change made in Munich
Saka was replaced in Munich by Eberechi Eze, who scored against Bayern.
Wide options available
Christos Tzolis remains out and was loosely expected back in November. Arsenal's only other available winger is Max Dowman, who is still only 16 years old.
Defenders also sidelined
William Saliba and Piero Hincapié are the only defenders now sidelined. There is an expectation that Hincapié could be back by the weekend.
Saliba is described as a long-term absentee left over from the summer, aggravating a back complaint during the 2026 World Cup. Saliba also appears to be ahead of schedule and could be fully recovered some time.
