Rayo Vallecano were ordered to complete their abandoned October 10 match against Athletic Club behind closed doors. The decision followed repeated throwing of objects onto the pitch during the original game, and the resolution was issued on October 16.
The ruling
The match will resume from the 24th minute of the first half with a throw-in for Rayo Vallecano. The score was 0-0 when the game was halted after 24 minutes.
The RFEF judge described the order to play in an empty stadium as a preventative security measure rather than a fresh disciplinary sanction.
Costs for the rearranged fixture
Rayo Vallecano must cover all travel and accommodation expenses incurred by Athletic Club for the rearranged fixture. Unless the two clubs reach a private alternative agreement, Athletic Club will submit their invoices to the judge, who will check that the costs are reasonable before enforcing payment.
Who can play
Any player who was registered with either club on October 10 is eligible to take part in the restart, regardless of whether they were part of the initial matchday squad.
Any player who had already been substituted before the 24th minute cannot return to the pitch. Any individuals who were suspended as a direct result of the incidents during the abandoned game will be barred from taking part.
What As reported
According to As, the referee halted the game twice before calling it off when the National Police confirmed they could not guarantee the safety of those inside the stadium.
As reported by Diario As, no one was physically struck by the objects thrown onto the pitch.
