Brabrand IF beat AC Horsens 1-0 after extra time on Wednesday at their home ground on the outskirts of Aarhus to reach the Danish Cup quarter-finals. The second-division side once again knocked out a Superliga team.
How the match was decided
The game was goalless at halftime. Mikkel Frandsen scored for Brabrand just minutes into extra time from a cross by Elias Astola.
Conditions at the ground
Brabrand's stadium lacks floodlights, so the match had to be concluded before the autumn darkness set in. Brabrand had previously beaten Viborg FF 2-1 in this year's tournament.
The Mandrup brothers started
Oscar Mandrup started for Brabrand while on loan from AC Horsens, and Anton Mandrup started for AC Horsens. Oscar Mandrup faced his twin brother Anton Mandrup in the match.
Quarter-final place secured
Flashscore said Brabrand matched their best-ever performance in the cup tournament, last achieved in 2024 when they reached the quarter-finals. Brabrand's Rasmus Juul was sent off after receiving his second yellow card with only a few minutes remaining, but AC Horsens did not score after gaining a numerical advantage late in the match.
