Julian Brandt said on the Spielmacher podcast that Florian Wirtz is Germany's best player and said he does not think Wirtz needs to change clubs despite the rumours.
Brandt's verdict on Wirtz
On the Spielmacher podcast, Brandt gave his verdict on Wirtz. He said: "For me, he is Germany's best player. By some distance!"
His view on a move
Brandt said: "I don't even think he needs to change clubs, despite all the rumours now circulating."
He also said: "But once you've been given a certain label, it's not easy to shake it off."
What Brandt said about the Premier League
As Brandt explained, he said: "The typical Premier League player is someone who is strong in one-on-one duels, can impose himself physically and can strike a ball into the top corner with a lot of power."
He added: "Wirtz, by contrast, is an elegant player. When he runs, his heel barely even touches the ground. He is basically always running on the balls of his feet."
Brandt said: "In my eyes, he is not the prototype of a Premier League player. But I think he has everything it takes to become one of the best there. And again: based purely on his qualities, he is the best for me."
Details attributed to GOAL
GOAL said Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen for €125 million in the summer of 2025.
GOAL said Wirtz had struggled for a long time to meet expectations at Liverpool, with goals and assists scarce and criticism in England growing.
GOAL said some former footballers had suggested Wirtz should leave Liverpool. GOAL also said Wirtz had an assist against Brentford and scored his first goal of the season against Villarreal.
