Phil Brown said Omar Berrada tried to sign Marcus Rashford for Manchester City before Rashford signed his Manchester United contract extension. The claim concerns Rashford's decision to stay and Berrada's links to the two clubs.
Brown's post on X
Brown wrote on X at 7:39pm on October 19: "They told Rashford how important he was, what they planned to do with the team and how much the club loved him, meanwhile Omar Berrada was offering him significantly more to come to City but he decided to stay with his boyhood club."
Background cited by TEAMtalk
TEAMtalk said Brown was reacting to claims from talkSPORT's chief football correspondent that Rashford is becoming a problem at Manchester United. TEAMtalk said Berrada was Manchester City's Chief Football Operations Officer at the time and is now Manchester United's CEO.
Rashford's current situation
Rashford spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Barcelona. Barcelona decided against triggering the £26million option to make Rashford's loan deal with Manchester United permanent in the summer of 2026. Rashford is under contract at Manchester United until 2028.
