Julian Brandt responded on the "Spielmacher" podcast after Rafael van der Vaart reversed his view of Brandt's move to Ajax Amsterdam. The exchange followed van der Vaart's praise at the opening of an artificial-turf pitch in Hamburg.
Van der Vaart's latest praise
Van der Vaart had criticised Ajax Amsterdam's signing of Brandt last August on NOS. At the opening of an artificial-turf pitch in Hamburg, the TV pundit said of Brandt: "He's brilliant. He's Ajax's best player."
Brandt's response on the podcast
Asked about van der Vaart's praise on the "Spielmacher" podcast, Brandt said: "It swings very, very quickly. That's the first time I've heard that."
Brandt added: "Last time, when he made a different statement, I was confronted with it a lot too. I don't know, I'm always like: 'Just leave me alone with that rubbish,'"
He then said with a smile: "That's good for me."
Brandt's Ajax so far
Brandt signed with Ajax until 2029. He has made 15 appearances for Ajax Amsterdam so far, scored eight goals and is still waiting for his first assist for the Amsterdam club.
