Burnley sacked head coach Nicky Hayen after a 4-1 defeat at Lincoln City at the ProAmpac Stadium left the club 22nd in the Championship. It was Hayen's final game after 14 matches in charge.
Defeat at Lincoln City
Hayen's last match in charge came on Saturday, when Burnley lost 4-1 at Lincoln City. Burnley had led 1-0 before Lincoln City came back to win.
The result was Burnley's sixth defeat of the campaign. Burnley announced Hayen's departure with a two-sentence statement within two hours of the defeat.
Hayen's post-match words
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Hayen had said: "I'm not going to lose my energy because this is something out of my hands"
Results and record
Hayen was appointed on 10 July to succeed Scott Parker. Burnley beat Watford 4-0 earlier in October for their first win of the season, then drew against Charlton and lost to Wolves, scoring first in both matches.
Burnley have won one of their past 24 league games. They have conceded 25 goals from their opening 12 Championship games, and BBC Sport said that was the worst record in the division.
