Discussion after Real Madrid beat Sevilla centred on Yan Diomande's display and on what Vinicius Junior's suspension and form could mean for his place. Diomande scored and assisted against Sevilla.
Diomande's impact against Sevilla
Speaking on the Carrusel Canalla programme, Antonio Romero said: "That was Diomande's first truly outstanding match in a Real Madrid shirt."
Before the Sevilla match, SI said Diomande already had a goal and two assists in his last three starts.
Pressure on Vinicius Junior
Vinicius Junior was absent through suspension against Sevilla. Antonio Romero said: "With the emergence of the Ivorian player, Vinicius has to raise his level immediately. For the first time in a very long while, he faces real and fierce competition for his place."
SI says Vinicius Junior saw red in Real Madrid's 1–0 win over Villarreal and earned a four-game suspension for pulling the hair of Nathan Saliba and then squaring up with the referee.
SI says Vinicius Junior cannot return to La Liga action until after the November international break.
Alkorta on the line-up
Analyst and former player Rafa Alkorta said changing the starting line-up compared with the match against Roma was a clever step. He said: "With Guler playing close to Tchouameni, the share of possession and control of the match increases, and the chances of creating more opportunities increase. Diomande and Endrick contributed a great deal defensively, and that is clear and very important."
SI says Vinicius Junior has scored once in 10 appearances across all competitions this season. SI says Vinicius Junior was substituted after 59 minutes against Roma.
Support alongside competition
Alkorta said: "This is important for Vini, because he now has an extremely strong partner. We hope this competition proves useful to him, because he is still among the best in the world."
Before the Sevilla match, SI said Real Madrid's upcoming four La Liga games were against Sevilla, Barcelona, Racing Santander and Valencia.
